  1. Reading Time: 2 minutes It’s over. About four months ago, Brooks Nader and Taron Egerton became publicly linked. Now, the 29-year-old Baywatch star and the 36-year-old Kingsman actor have parted ways. Nader is apparently in her “Euro Summer” era. Brooks Nader attends Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Beach Club on May 29, 2026. (Photo Credit: Alexander Tamargo/Getty Images for Sports Illustrated) It’s over Us Weekly reports that Nader and Egerton have split after what appears to be about four months. “Their relationship was casual,” the inside source shared, “but Brooks ended things with him.” As you may have gathered already, it sounds like this insider is from Nader’s camp. “She is living her best single life right now,” the source characterized. “And,” the insider continued, “is embracing ‘Euro Summer’ in St. Tropez.” The source emphasized that Nader is “having a lot of fun” during down time while filming Baywatch. She is also said to be working on other projects at the same time. “She’s very busy and is excited to be single,” the insider reported. So, again, it really sounds like this source is very close to Nader and is putting Nader’s best foot forward. That doesn’t mean that this characterization of the split is necessarily false. But it is just something for us to keep in mind. A source can be both real and biased. It doesn’t sound like it was every really serious Back in March, Nader and Egerton were spotted out and about in Los Angeles. He is far from the first prominent actor with whom she has been linked, by the way. She’s been rumored to be entangled with multiple big names, from Ben Affleck to Tom Brady. In fact, if some wild reports are to be believed, Nader was in a Challengers-esque situation not so long ago. (Good for her if true!) It is likely that her name is only likely to grow with Baywatch and these other projects. Reportedly, Nader liked that Egerton was such a gentleman. However, she very understandably did not want to be tied down to any one relationship. Going on multiple dates, as reports say that they did, may have led somewhere, but that doesn’t make it a forever romance. Or a roamnce at all. In fact, Nader publicly declared that she was “just going on fun dates.” However, she characterized herself as single even back in June. She also told TMZ: “I’m just baywatching.” Amazing. No notes. 2. Reading Time: 2 minutes It’s been nearly six months since Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home in Tucson. And now, her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, is once again asking for help as the search for her mother approaches the half-year mark. The Today show anchor shared an emotional video on Instagram this week, directly addressing the person or people responsible for her 84-year-old mother’s disappearance. Savannah Guthrie speaks onstage during Savannah Guthrie in Conversation with Hoda Kotb: Reflections on Faith at 92NY on February 22, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images) In the video, Guthrie pleaded for compassion and urged anyone involved to reveal Nancy’s whereabouts. “We are living through a nightmare that will not end,” Savannah said, adding that it is “never too late to do the right thing.” She asked the parties responsible to tell her family “where to look for her” and said they continue to hope for Nancy’s safe return. Savannah captioned the post simply, “Bring her home.” Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. Investigators have said evidence at the residence suggested she did not leave voluntarily, and authorities have treated the case as a suspected kidnapping. The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate. According to investigators, surveillance footage captured a masked individual outside Nancy’s home around the time of her disappearance. Authorities have also examined multiple ransom notes sent during the investigation, though officials have indicated that some messages may not be authentic. No arrests have been announced. Savannah has remained outspoken throughout the investigation, using both her national television platform and social media to keep attention on the case. Earlier this year, her family announced a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy’s recovery, while the FBI has also offered a separate reward for information that assists the investigation. Despite the passage of nearly six months, Guthrie’s latest message made clear that her family has not given up hope. “Please,” she said in the video. “Tell us where to look for her. Bring her home.” Savannah is currently on hiatus from Today as she focuses on filming a new game show based on the popular word game Wordle. We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available. 3. Reading Time: 3 minutes Over a dozen years later, Katie Holmes has thoroughly moved on from the Tom Cruise chapter of her life. So has her daughter. Continuing the pattern of celebrity kids reaching adulthood and ditching the surnames of their dads who were really hot in the early 1990s, Suri has a new legal name. There’s no “Cruise” in sight. And, interestingly, no “Holmes.” Tom Cruise promotes the upcoming film “Digger” on April 14, 2026. (Photo Credit: Gabe Ginsberg/Getty Images) It’s official! Page Six reports that Suri registered to vote during her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University. What makes this very standard activity — particularly for an election year (Suri was a freshman in autumn 2024) — remarkable is that voter registrations must be under one’s legal name. She is registered to vote as “Suri Noelle.” That is the same name that she used in a pamphlet at the end of high school. Registering to vote like this can only mean that Suri has changed her legal name. Ditching the “Cruise” surname makes sense. Notably, she has done this very quietly while leading a relatively normal life. NEW Suri, Katie Holmes’s daughter, who was abandoned by her biological father, Tom Cruise, legally dropped the last name “Cruise” at some point, per a new report from Page Six. Suri Noelle is the name she used to register to vote. Good for her. A reminder: Tom Cruise… pic.twitter.com/jOkY988VU0 — Yashar Ali (@yashar) July 27, 2026 The report mentions that Suri did not file for her name change in Allegheny County. From that, most conclude that she likely sought her name change in New York — before she left for college. Having a legal name change carries many advantages. Only one of which is not having to explain to multiple professors, resident advisors, and more why you’d prefer to not have your former name read aloud to a room full of your peers and potential friends. That has broad applications even if your former surname wasn’t “Cruise.” It was smart of Suri to seek this change beforehand — possibly right after she turned 18. She’s following Katie Holmes’ example (and saying very little) Those of us old enough to remember Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch likely do not need a reminder of how things ended with Katie Holmes. In 2012, Holmes filed to divorce Cruise after 6 years of marriage. Divorcing Cruise is a notoriously daunting prospect. To this day, Nicole Kidman avoids speaking ill of Cruise or of Scientology, which some governments have branded as a predatory business rather than as a “religion.” Holmes has not been outspoken about her erstwhile marriage or about her experiences during that time. However, in December of 2024, she did confirm that Suri did not have a trust fund from her estranged father. (There were reports of such a fund, which Holmes denied.) Shiloh Jolie Suri Noelle dropping the last names of their problematic, deadbeat dads — ᴊᴇʟᴀ (@jelevision) June 25, 2024 TMZ reports that, according to their source, Suri has been estranged from her father since she was 7 years old. With that in mind, the 2024 revelation that she’d used “Suri Noelle” towards the end of high school made a lot of sense. Only now do we have confirmation that she made this change legally. Celebrity kids could have any number of reasons to obfuscate a famous — or infamous — parent’s surname. Cruise is both famous and infamous. But to do this legally seems pretty personal. It’s easy to ask if Tom Cruise ever cared about her. But many would argue that the best thing that he ever did for Suri was vanishing from her life. 4. Reading Time: 2 minutes Sure, Ella Langley might be the country crossover artist of the summer. But Kacey Musgraves has been delivering twangy chart-toppers since Obama’s first term, and she’s here to remind us that she’s still got it in more ways than one. In order to promote her new single “Mexico Honey,” Kacey posted an Instagram carousel that’s attracting a whole lot of attention across social media. Kacey Musgraves performs onstage during the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 17, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images) The reason? Well, all of the pics are cool, but we’re gonna assume most people are fixating on the ones in which Kacey is seen wearing nothing but a parrot on her shoulder. Fans know that Kacey has a long history of horny posting, and they love her for it. But because we live in very prudish times, Ms. Musgraves occasionally experiences some pushback for her boundary-testing content, but thankfully, she hasn’t let that stop her. We can’t share her latest post directly — this is a family-friendly scandalous gossip site, thank you very much! — but you find Kacey’s glorious parrot pics here. “That Kacey Musgraves post on insta. Boy oh boy,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter). “Boy oh boy is an understatement. Kacey really woke up, chose violence against the timeline, and posted pure unfiltered art with that parrot shot. Composition, colour, confidence — all of it hits different. Some people just move different,” another wrote. “She really opened Instagram today and decided to drop a casual lethal weapon on everyone’s feed,” a third person opined. “Ella was getting too much attention,” a fourth chimed in. You get the idea. Some wondered how Kacey was able to get away with that level of skin. But it’s important to note that the site has a no-nipples policy. Its terms of service are surprisingly vague on the topic of unclothed backsides. So Kacey knew the rules and made a conscious decision about which ones were worth breaking, as great artists have done since the dawn of time. The sultry post comes on the heels of news that Kacey has decided to cancel several tour dates, but her team says the decision was solely a logistical one, and there’s no cause for concern. So fear not — Kacey will still be hitting the road starting August 20. If you’re lucky enough to make her acquaintance, don’t make it weird by mentioning the parrot. 5. Reading Time: 2 minutes The murder trial of Lindsay Clancy officially got underway Monday, with jurors hearing emotional opening statements before testimony from the man at the center of the tragedy. Lindsay’s former husband, Patrick Clancy, has taken the stand, and to the surprise of many, his testimony is expected to aid her defense. Lindsay, a former Massachusetts labor and delivery nurse, has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the January 2023 deaths of the couple’s three children: 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan. An empty jury box in a pre-trial courtroom. (Photo by Bill Pugliano/Getty Images) Her legal team is expected to argue that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and should be found not criminally responsible for the killings. Prosecutors, however, contend that Clancy acted deliberately and with premeditation. Called as the prosecution’s first witness, Patrick Clancy testified about the months leading up to the deaths, describing what he said were significant changes in his wife’s mental health after the birth of their youngest child. According to his testimony, Lindsay told him in December 2022 that she was experiencing intrusive thoughts about harming the children. “She described thoughts of hurting the kids,” Patrick testified, adding that he asked whether she had a plan. He said she initially answered no before acknowledging that she did. Patrick also described Lindsay’s growing anxiety about returning to work after each pregnancy, saying she struggled with being separated from the children and appeared increasingly distressed in the months before the tragedy. During opening statements, prosecutors and defense attorneys presented sharply different explanations for what occurred inside the family’s home on January 24, 2023. Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham argued that Clancy carefully planned the killings after asking Patrick to leave the house on an errand. Prosecutors allege she used exercise bands to strangle all three children before attempting to take her own life by jumping from a second-story window, an attempt that left her paralyzed. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington painted a very different picture, telling jurors that Clancy desperately sought psychiatric help for months before the killings and was prescribed numerous medications by multiple medical providers. He argued that the case is not about whether Lindsay killed her children — something the defense does not dispute — but whether she was legally responsible for her actions because of severe postpartum mental illness. Patrick testified that his wife had been prescribed numerous psychiatric medications from different healthcare providers, treatments that he believes only further damaged her mental state. We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available. 6. Reading Time: 2 minutes As we previously reported, Mia Bieniemy was shot at her home in Virginia on Sunday night. The wife of Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy reportedly suffered multiple gunshot wounds, but is currently in stable condition. Eric and Mia’s 27-year-old, Elijah Zion Bieniemy, has been arrested in connection with the crime. A mug shot of Elijah Bieniemy. (Loudon County Sheriff’s Office) Elijah has been charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside of a dwelling. He is currently being held without bail. Eric was not at home at the time of the shooting, as he has been in St. Joseph, Missouri, for the Chiefs’ training camp at Missouri Western State University. According to ESPN, Bieniemy left Chiefs’ training camp and was not in attendance for Monday’s practice. At this time, very little is known about the circumstances that led up to the shooting. Speaking with NBC News, a neighbor described the Bieniemys as a “good Christian family.” Authorities in Loudoun County confirmed that they responded to a residence in Ashburn at approximately 7:32 pm ET following reports of a person suffering serious injuries, though they did not initially identify the victim. The Chiefs acknowledged the situation in a brief statement. “The club is aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s family,” the organization said, adding that it would have no further comment out of respect for the family’s privacy. Eric, 56, returned to Kansas City earlier this year after spending the 2025 season as the Chicago Bears’ running backs coach. He previously served as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator from 2018 through 2022, helping the franchise win two Super Bowls before departing for the Washington Commanders in 2023. His return to Kansas City was viewed as a significant offseason move as the Chiefs look to rebound following an injury-plagued 2025 campaign. 7. Reading Time: 2 minutes She started On Top, and now she’s here. Kendra Wilkinson sobbed into the camera over the weekend after a major professional setback. She knows that a lot of people are struggling right now. It’s not just her. But that doesn’t mean that things aren’t really hard right now. Kendra Wilkinson attends “Fasting And The Longevity Revolution” Documentary Premiere at TCL Chinese Theatre on March 11, 2026. (Photo Credit: Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images for Frequency Production) ‘I’m struggling today, guys’ Taking to her Instagram Story on Sunday, July 26, the former Kendra On Top star shared a heavy emotional moment. First, she shared a tearful photo alongside a caption that explained her state. When a client fires you… after all the work you put in,” she began. Kendra acknowledged: “Ya, I’m struggling today, guys,” She then followed that message with a heartbroken video about this setback in her real estate career. “I know that we’re living in a world of struggle right now, I know that,” Kendra acknowledged. During hardship, it can be easy to forget that others are suffering. In Kendra’s case, that most are much worse off. But she understands that she is far from alone in this. “But it’s just … it’s so hard,” she explained. “It’s so hard right now.” Kendra affirmed: “I’m doing everything good — I’m a good person. It’s just such a struggle right now.” ‘It’s taking a toll’ Still crying, Kendra explained her racing thoughts as she processed them. “I feel like I’m doing everything right in my life,” she assessed. Kendra emphasized: “I’m raising my kids and putting them first.” Hank Jr. is now 16, in case you weren’t feeling old. (He was also recently accepted to college.) Alijah is 12! Kendra listed some recent problems, including: “fighting people that work with me, getting fired, people being rude and mean.” Some have misconstrued Kendra’s statement as saying that the person who fired her from being their real estate agent was “rude and mean.” However, that is not actually what she said with this line. Rather, Kendra summarized: “It’s taking a toll.” It is unclear who may have fired Kendra, but we hope that she lands on her feet. (It also seems likely that she will.) Obviously, we should live in a society where setbacks like this are not so scary, and one where the housing market is not so unbalanced. Unfortunately, that is not our current reality. 8. Reading Time: 3 minutes Until earlier this month, 43-year-old Sara Gilson was yet another mother who was also a TikTok influencer. Now, she is the victim of a brutal crime — and an apparent murder-suicide. Just days before her killing, she accused her now-ex of being a “pedophile.” In the horrific 911 call, she can be heard “screaming and crying” in her final moments. Police lights flash in this stock photo from 2017. (Photo Credit: Darrian Traynor/Getty Images) A tragic murder-suicide On Thursday, July 23, 911 dispatchers received an emergency call after Gilson’s estranged husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, allegedly shot her to death. (He then apparently killed himself, making it an alleged murder-suicide.) The 911 call was not placed by Gilson, but by the couple’s son. The child on the phone reported that his stepfather had shot his mother inside their Owasso, Oklahoma home. Meanwhile, it appears that dispatchers may have heard — and recorded — audio of at least part of the crime. “I’m trying to reach him back,” a dispatcher explained to first responders, “but I could hear a female in the background screaming and crying.” The 911 dispatcher then described: “Some sort of loud bang in the background.” Once they arrived, police confirmed that Gilson had been fatally shot, seemingly by Duffey. The crime scene then indicated that Duffey had taken his own life using the same firearm. Officially, the motive is not known. However, Gilson’s video just days earlier, calling Duffey a pedophile and predicting a Netflix documentary, seems like a pretty strong — if unproven — motive. ‘My soon-to-be ex husband, who I just found out is a pedophile’ On July 11, Gilson had publicly accused Duffey — her husband — of being a “pedophile.” On TikTok, she explained why. “Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile,” the word above her read. “I wish I [were] joking.” Unfortunately, she was not joking. And while somewhat absurd allegations of predatory behavior sometimes circulate, especially on social media, she wasn’t accusing Duffey because of fanart that he liked or a story that he read. Last month, a woman in Owasso filed a protective order against Duffey on behalf of her 15-year-old daughter. Her daughter played basketball on a team that he coached. According to the report, another coach caught Duffey kissing and touching the child, who later confirmed to her mother that this was not the first time. Sara Gilson’s TikTok post’s caption exposed her ex. Did it cost her her life? (Image Credit: TikTok/YouTube) The 15-year-old reported to her mother that Duffey had sent her inappropriate messages, including inviting him to her hotel room during a tournament trip. He had also offered her money, the report listed, “to keep her quiet.” Duffey was not arrested or charged. It is unclear if authorities planned to do so. Gilson filed her own protective order, and alleged that he “proceeded to threaten suicide and went on the run.” Duffey was not legally allowed near Gilson or her children. Unfortunately, as countless victims instinctively know often happens, he did not abide by the protective order. It sounds like Gilson took swift action as a responsible mother to protect her own children after she was alerted to her husband’s true nature. She paid the ultimate price for it in a society that too often protects bad adults over children. 9. Reading Time: 2 minutes We have some very troubling news to report from the world of sports today: Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is dealing with a frightening family emergency after his wife, Mia Bieniemy, was reportedly shot at the couple’s Virginia home Sunday night. According to ESPN, Mia, 57, was hospitalized after the shooting. Police tape hangs across a street in front of a house in Park City, Kansas. (Photo by Larry W. Authorities in Loudoun County, Virginia, confirmed they responded to a residence in Ashburn at approximately 7:32 pm ET following reports of a person suffering serious injuries, though they did not initially identify the victim. According to TMZ, Eric and Mia’s son, Elijah, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside of a dwelling as a result of the shooting. At the time of the incident, Eric was with the Chiefs in St. Joseph, Missouri, where the team had wrapped up its second practice of training camp. The Chiefs acknowledged the situation in a brief statement. “The club is aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s family,” the organization said, adding that it would have no further comment out of respect for the family’s privacy. Few additional details have been released about the shooting, and investigators have not publicly discussed what led to the incident. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate. For now, however, football has understandably taken a back seat. As of Monday morning, Mia remained hospitalized in stable condition, and neither the family nor law enforcement had released additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, and more details are expected as authorities continue their work. We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available. 10. Reading Time: 2 minutes Time and disease continue to come for some of our culture’s most iconic figures. At 83, legendary singer Carly Simon is disclosing her diagnosis. She has Parkinson’s disease, and it has transformed her life. But there is a major silver lining to this story: she has exciting news to share. Singer/songwriter Carly Simon poses for a portrait in circa 1975. (Photo Credit: Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images) ‘I’ve been learning how to live with Parkinson’s disease’ In a statement to Page Six on Monday, July 27, the music legend disclosed her diagnosis. “So many people have written to me, kindly wondering about my relative silence, asking how I am and what I have been doing,” Simon began. “The truth is,” she revealed, “I’ve been learning how to live with Parkinson’s disease.” Parkinson’s is a neurodegenerative disease that impacts both motor and non-motor functions. It is most recognized by physical tremors. Simon explained that it has “taken me some time to understand the diagnosis, to adjust to it, and to decide how much I wanted to say about it publicly.” “Parkinson’s is different for everyone, and it can be unpredictable,” Simon explained. “Some days I’m so tired I can’t get the day moving at all,” she acknowledged. “On others, it gives me a little more room to move, think, work, and feel like myself.” Simon underwent three joint replacement surgeries after arthritis attacked her knees and one hip. During her recovery, new mobility issues presented themselves. “I had trouble standing up from low chairs and deep couches without someone offering me an arm,” Simon recalled. She shared that it reached a point where she could no longer walk without “considerable help.” ‘I do not consider Parkinson’s a gift or a blessing’ “There is no tidy or predictable schedule to the illness. It does not consult my calendar before deciding what kind of day I am going to have,” Simon explained bluntly. Additionally, she shared, she had a basal cell carcinoma — a form of cancer. Though she treated it with surgery, she has felt self-conscious about her appearance as a result. “Between my mobility issues, the Parkinson’s diagnosis, the surgery, and the emotional effects of it all, withdrawing from public view was the most palatable reaction,” Simon reasoned. “I do not consider Parkinson’s a gift or a blessing. It is neither. It is difficult, frustrating, and sometimes frightening,” she described. Simon affirmed: “I am still learning how to live with it and how to accept it without feeling that I have surrendered something essential.” We mentioned that there was good news, and there is! Simon’s new album, Comes in Waves, releases on August 14. “Working on the music gave shape to days that did not always have much shape,” Simon expressed. “It gave me somewhere to go without having to leave the room.” She added: “It reminded me that illness can change your life without becoming the whole of your life.” Simon concluded her statement: “I have learned to accept that every day will look a little different. But I am still very much here.” Carly Simon Discloses Parkinson’s Disease Diagnosis, But There’s Good News … was originally published on The Hollywood Gossip. View the full article
  11. Reading Time: 2 minutes Dolly Parton and her family are mourning another heartbreaking loss. Coy “Denver” Parton, one of the country music icon’s older brothers, has died at the age of 82. According to his obituary, Denver passed away on Thursday, July 23, in Sevierville, Tennessee. (Photo by Jason Kempin/Getty Images) Denver was the third of 12 children born to Robert Lee and Avie Lee Parton, making him one of Dolly’s 11 siblings. While several members of the Parton family pursued careers in entertainment, Denver chose a much quieter life away from the spotlight. His obituary describes him as a longtime crane operator who helped build bridges. He was also a homestead farmer and an avid hunter who enjoyed spending time outdoors. Denver was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Parton, as well as his parents, infant brother Larry, brothers Floyd, Randy and David, niece Tever Parton, Dolly’s husband Carl Dean, who died in March, and several other family members. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and extended family. The family plans to hold a private funeral service, though friends and loved ones have been invited to share condolences online. The loss comes during what has been an especially difficult period for the Parton family. Dolly is still mourning the death of her husband of nearly 60 years. She paid tribute to him by releasing the emotional song “If You Hadn’t Been There,” thanking him for the unwavering support he provided throughout their decades-long marriage. Denver’s passing also follows the deaths of several of Dolly’s siblings in recent years, including brother Randy Parton in 2021 and older brother David Parton in 2024. Although Denver largely stayed out of the public eye, he remained an important part of the close-knit Parton family that Dolly has frequently spoken about throughout her career. 12. Reading Time: 3 minutes Recently, Sydney Sweeney showed fans what she had going on Down Under after wrapping filming on an exciting new project. Now, she’s showing off another excursion. On a date with controversial boyfriend Scooter Braun, she took a wild risk that many people wouldn’t. Keep in mind, this video isn’t for the faint of heart. (Photo Credit: Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images for Lionsgate) The ultimate trust fall Over the weekend, Sweeney and Braun showcased their getaway in New Zealand. One of their activities was something that many people — including their commenters — would only do for Sweeney’s wealth. (Others would only do it in exchange for Braun’s net worth.) The two strapped together for a tandem bungee jump and leapt from a suspension platform over a deep, picturesque ravine. As you can see from Braun’s Instagram below, they took the plunge and then bounced back up. As you can see, some of the coverage of their couples’ plunge took on a POV format. (That means a literal point-of-view shot, as if we are seeing from Sweeney’s perspective, not the way that TikTok uses “POV” to simply refer to a video’s premise. Words mean things.) That’s a rare look into the perspective of a big-name actress! It is also, perhaps, not for the faint of heart. Not everyone fancies seeing a plunge like that from any perspective. And not everyone’s a fan of Braun, to be blunt. Under Scooter Braun’s Instagram post, Jessica Alba, Jenna Dewan, and girlfriend Sydney Sweeney weighed in. (Image Credit: Instagram) Things are clearly serious The comments were filled with opinions, many of which were very relatable. “This is my nightmare,” wrote the astonishingly beautiful and surprisingly relatable Jessica Alba. Jenna Dewan expressed her wide-eyed astonishment at the post. Sweeney herself commented: “Biggest trust fall ever.” Earlier this year, a viral video showed an unsecured bungee jump unfold, with predictably lethal results. Trust fall is an accurate term. The couple that falls together, stays together? Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun took the plunge – literally – with a tandem bungee jump in Queenstown, New Zealand. Sharing the heart-stopping moment, the daredevil duo somehow managed to make it look fun : scooterbraun… pic.twitter.com/Anfqb46Q0m — HELLO! Canada (@HelloCanada) July 26, 2026 Obviously, they did more on their trip to New Zealand — a famously beautiful country, and the filming site for projects such as The Lord of the Rings, Legend of the Seeker, The Shannara Chronicles, Xena: Warrior Princess, and 30 Days of Night. It appears that, despite the controversy surrounding the relationship, they’re only getting closer. While it’s possible that Sweeney decided to mentally flip off critics and double down on the romance, there’s another possibility. Between the real and imagined criticism lobbied her way (like, the “jeans” controversy was almost entirely fabricated), it’s possible that Sweeney — like so many famous people — cannot differentiate between earnest criticism and random trolls. Whatever it is, it’s out of our hands. Sweeney and Braun are clearly serious about each other. 13. Reading Time: 2 minutes We have tragic news to report from the world of social media. Rebecca Luna, the TikTok creator who gained fame by documenting her battle with young-onset Alzheimer’s disease and advocating for Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) program, has died. She was 49. News of Luna;s death comes courtesy of a statement posted to her TikTok account. “Rebecca passed away July 25th at approximately 1:15 p.m. surrounded by her loved ones,” the post read (via People). “Thank you for your support and privacy.” The Victoria, British Columbia, resident became widely known in 2025 after revealing that she had been diagnosed with young-onset Alzheimer’s at age 48. Her candid videos chronicled the realities of living with the progressive neurological disease, as well as her decision to pursue MAID, Canada’s legal physician-assisted dying program for eligible patients. Over the following year, Luna amassed a large following by providing updates on her health, discussing the legal and medical process surrounding MAID, and sharing resources for others facing similar end-of-life decisions. The single mother also fulfilled one of her longtime dreams during her final year after meeting singer Lily Allen, whom she had described as one of her heroes. Luna later called the experience “the best.” Hospital beds seen within a private box at the new Dragon’s Heart Hospital on April 20, 2020 in Cardiff, Wales. (Photo by Matthew Horwood/Getty Images) Just days before her death, Luna announced that she had moved the date of her MAID procedure from early August to July 25, explaining that the decision had become too difficult to postpone. “Prior to the dates changing for the last year and a half has been legally and medically not my choice,” she said in a farewell video. “But for the last two weeks I’ve been making the decision. And it’s a hard decision to make, because I’m living in a body that doesn’t feel comfortable, safe, good, nothing. It feels terrible. And so the idea of waiting two weeks felt like too much.” Luna also reflected on the hardships she had endured throughout her life, saying they ultimately helped her better understand herself. “I’ve suffered enough in this world,” she said. “But at the same time, the suffering has brought me to this place of ‘I really know who I am and I really know that I have a good f—ing heart.'” She concluded her final message by encouraging others to value themselves and advocate for their own well-being. “If I leave this planet, that’s the only thing I teach — and that’s the only thing that somebody gets something out of — is that you just need to act your way into loving yourself,” Luna said. “If I can do it, you can do it too.” Our condolences go out to Rebecca Luna’s loved ones during this enormously difficult time. 14. Reading Time: 3 minutes Kaitlan Collins was awarded for her journalism over the weekend. Donald Trump lashed out on stage, claiming that Collins’ reporting was “fake.” After again complaining that Collins “never smiles,” he compared her to Dylan Mulvaney. Trump’s intended insult sparked a flurry of discussion. And now Mulvaney is responding. Kaitlan Collins attends the 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner at Washington Hilton on April 25, 2026. (Photo Credit: Paul Morigi/Getty Images) Congratulations to Kaitlan Collins! On Friday, July 24, Kaitlan Collins was honored at the rescheduled White House Correspondents Dinner. She specifically received an award for covering a meeting in which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Donald Trump in the increasingly gilded Oval Office. It was a contentious meeting and a diplomatic embarrassment to the US to behave in such an ill-mannered way towards an embattled ally — and a guest. After Collins received her award, Trump stood up and rambled a bit, as is his habit. As is also his habit, he decided to pepper Collins with both insults and attempted insults. “It’s a fake — she shouldn’t get the award, it was a fake,” Trump claimed baselessly at the podium. Does he mean that he never met with Zelenskyy? Or is he just lazily calling CNN “fake” in general? At this point, no one really knows what Trump’s trying to say — least of all Trump himself. “But I don’t mind, I said, ‘Kaitlan, congratulations,'” he added, as if magnanimous. “But it was fake, there’s no question about it.” Trump went from condemning journalism itself to his longstanding tradition of overt misogyny. “She’s a young, attractive woman. She never smiles. I said, ‘Kaitlan, do you ever smile? Smile,” he said. “You have a nice position, you’re at CNN fake news, you should be a happy person. So smile, Kaitlan, just smile.” He then decided to take things in a more transphobic direction “I thought Kaitlan had really made it big with a major new sponsorship,” Trump claimed. He does not appear to be making a true statement here. Rather, it is the setup for what he believes is a bigoted insult. “But then I informed that it wasn’t her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney,” Trump continued. It is clear that he invoked Mulvaney’s name as an attempted insult. Mulvaney is a transgender influencer and once did a simple sponsorship for Bud Light in 2023. Comparing these women might not be an insult, but Trump clearly intended it as such. At first, Mulvaney limited her response to simply sharing the same Eleanor Roosevelt quote that Kaitlan Collins herself had posted. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent,” the quote reads. Mulvaney later posted a longer video to TikTok, congratulating Collins on her win. She also contextualized why the Trump regime is targeting her, how she lives rent-free in the minds of the country’s worst conservatives, simply for being herself. She also implored people to stand up for the trans community, who are under coordinated attack in multiple countries just for being themselves. It sounds like Mulvaney and Collins both have a very healthy perspective on this. There’s nothing really healthy about Trump’s state of mind. That’s nothing new. 15. Reading Time: 2 minutes Speculation has run wild about Jelly Roll and Bunny Xo’s divorce. Some claim that the singer, whose real name is Jason DeFord, wanted to “trade in” his wife of nearly a decade for a younger model. His own daughter predicted the internet’s reaction to the truth about their split. Now, a new report lays the blame on something more personal and relatable and a little less sensational. Is it true? Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll attend the 68th GRAMMY Awards Pre-GRAMMY Gala at The Beverly Hilton on January 31, 2026. (Photo Credit: Amy Sussman/Getty Images) Did their marriage end because the IVF didn’t pan out? RadarOnline is now reporting that DeFord had held out hope that he and Bunnie would successfully conceive via IVF. However, the report alleges that their efforts to have a child together failed. Despite the urging of some members of his management team, this was apparently a breaking point. “With Jelly, his life narrative is as important to his career as the music he makes,” an alleged inside source explained. With that in mind, those closest to him really wanted his marriage to work out. “His story of being a lifelong jailbird who turned around his life when Bunnie took the reins struck a chord with fans,” the supposed insider affirmed. The source added: “Ending it would be a career blow.” Certainly there are many famous acts, including comedian John Mulaney and former Try Guys personality Ned Fulmer, where fans took the end of a marriage very seriously. “Jelly hoped having a child would turn things around,” the purported insider claimed. “But,” the source added, “it just didn’t work out.” Fertility can make or break many relationships “Now he wants to build a new life,” the insider claimed. “And,” the alleged source continued, “realize his dream of becoming a dad again.” Obviously, many of us are keenly aware that having a child is not a magical fix for a relationship. Infamously, not only does it not mend a marriage, but condemns a child to grow up in a household where the parents aren’t necessarily happy with each other or in general. In some cases, these children internalize it, blaming themselves for the circumstances of their births. DeFord is already a parent to 18-year-old Bailee. He has had primary custody of her since she was 8. He is also the father of 9-year-old (almost 10, in fact) Noah. Noah’s mother has primary custody. It’s possible, but not confirmed, that the IVF medications played a role in DeFord and Bunnie’s conflicts that culminated in their divorce earlier this year. Despite that, Bunnie has said that she still wants to continue with IVF and welcome a child with her ex. 16. Reading Time: 2 minutes More than two weeks after 18-year-old Nolan Wells was found dead near Mississippi’s Horn Island, one of the biggest questions surrounding his final hours has become even more complicated. A woman identified as Katie McCormack has now been named as the person Wells was allegedly talking with shortly before he disappeared. But according to Katie’s family, the story being told publicly about that encounter may not be accurate. People listen as attorney Ben Crump holds a press conference with Elmore Wonsley and Christine Wells-Wonsley, the parents of Nolan Wells, at the annual NAACP National Convention to announce the results of an independent autopsy as they investigate the death of Wells on July 22, 2026 in Chicago, Illinois. (Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images) As we previously reported, Wells vanished during a Fourth of July outing on Horn Island after traveling there with friends by boat. His mother reported him missing late that night, and search crews located his body in the water near the island on July 6. Authorities have not announced a cause or manner of death, and the investigation remains active. From the beginning, friends said Wells chose to remain on the island while they left because he wanted to spend time with a girl he had met that day. One of his friends recently reiterated that account, saying Wells declined repeated requests to get back on the boat. But Katie’s sister, Gracie McCormack, is now disputing the suggestion that Wells intentionally stayed behind with her. According to her account, Katie believed Wells was returning with his own group and did not understand that he had become separated from them. She also emphasized that Katie has cooperated with investigators and has not been accused of wrongdoing. “Katie had a conversation and assumed that Nolan was getting ready to get on the boat he came out on,” Gracie told The Daily Mail this week. “Katie assumed the ‘friends’ telling him to get on the boat wouldn’t have left him.” Those conflicting accounts have only deepened the concerns of Wells’ family. Represented by attorney Ben Crump, the family has repeatedly questioned what happened during Nolan’s final hours. Crump has pointed to the differing narratives as evidence that investigators still need answers about who last saw Wells and whether everyone involved has been completely truthful. An independent autopsy commissioned by the family (and financed by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick) was unable to determine a cause of death. According to reports, decomposition and the limitations created by the earlier state autopsy prevented definitive conclusions. The report listed Wells’ cause and manner of death as undetermined and stated that foul play could not be ruled out. Meanwhile, Mississippi authorities have said they have not found evidence that a crime occurred, though they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Wells’ death and have asked witnesses to provide information, photos, and videos from Horn Island. For now, the question of what happened to Nolan Wells on July 4 remains unanswered. We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available. 17. Reading Time: 2 minutes Uhhhh … I don’t know about this one, Jim! Beloved CBS Sports analyst Tony Romo was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback was stopped while driving southbound on Interstate 43, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday (via TMZ). Tony Romo, CBS Sports speaks on stage during New York Upfront Partnership Event 2026 at Storied NYC on April 23, 2026 in New York City. (Photo by Noam Galai/Getty Images for Paramount) Officials reported that Romo performed poorly on field sobriety tests before being taken into custody. He was later booked and released. Wisconsin uses the term “operating while intoxicated” rather than DUI. Romo, who is famously gifted at reading NFL defenses and predicting how opposing offenses will react, apparently did not see this one coming. For a first offense, OWI is generally treated as a civil violation rather than a criminal offense, though penalties can still include fines and other sanctions if a driver is found responsible. According to multiple reports, Romo had been in Wisconsin to compete in the Wisconsin State Amateur golf tournament, an event he has participated in over the years. The traffic stop occurred not far from Burlington, Wisconsin, where the NFL great grew up. CBS, where Romo has served as the network’s lead NFL game analyst since retiring from football, has not publicly commented on the arrest. Romo spent his entire NFL career with the Cowboys after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2003. He became the Cowboys’ starting quarterback in 2006 and earned four Pro Bowl selections before retiring following the 2016 season. Although Dak Prescott recently surpassed him as the franchise’s all-time passing yards leader, Romo still holds the Cowboys’ record for career touchdown passes with 248. He transitioned directly into broadcasting in 2017, quickly becoming one of the NFL’s highest-profile television analysts. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details about the traffic stop have not yet been released. Authorities have not announced whether any additional citations or charges are expected beyond the alleged first-offense OWI. We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available. 18. Reading Time: 2 minutes These days, it seems like you can’t step outside without hearing the catchy refrain of Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas.” The 27-year-old Alabama native is shattering records with her crossover hit, and several major outlets have dubbed her country’s next megastar. But sudden fame has its drawbacks, as Ella might be learning the hard way these days. Ella Langley attends the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 17, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by David Becker/Getty Images) Some of those articles declaring Langley the Queen of Country have been bombarded by comments claiming that the singer is also a diehard Trump supporter. “She’s MAGA though,” one Facebook user commented on a recent Atlantic profile “That girl is MAGA,” another chimed in. Yes, these are divisive times in America, and support for a historically unpopular president (Trump’s approval rating currently sits at just 36 percent) could be enough to derail Ella’s career. At the same time, her music is the sort of mainstream country that Nashville was churning out in the ’80s and ’90s, so coming out against Trump would surely alienate millions of fans. So what’s the real story here? Is Ella really a MAGA diehard? Is she more moderate? Is she even political at all? Well, we don’t really know, as she has yet to comment on the situation. In all likelihood, we have a Sydney Sweeney 2.0 situation on our hands. As you may recall, millions jumped to the conclusion that Sydney was MAGA after learning that she’s a registered Republican. That’s not necessarily true, of course, as there are many Republican critics of Trump. But MAGA folk were eager to claim the industry’s biggest star as one of their own, so they picked up the narrative and ran with it. For her part, Sydney avoided the controversy as best she could, just like Ella is doing now, Why? Because she’s a 20-something woman who’s poised to become one of the biggest stars of her generation, and if she plays her cards right, she might be able to parlay that fame into a 10-figure net worth. For obvious reasons, Sydney probably cares more about her career than she does about America’s never-ending culture war. Both Sydney and Ella are products of rural upbringings, so they probably hold some conservative views. And they both work in the entertainment industry, so they probably hold some progressive views. And they’ll probably continue to infuriate people from all across the political spectrum by continuing to keep mum about those views. Is Ella Langley MAGA? 19. Reading Time: 3 minutes It has been just about six months since Nancy Guthrie’s violent kidnapping from her home. As new pieces of information come out, Savannah Guthrie recently stepped away from The Today Show. One new detail reveals, in almost its entirety, the first ransom note — unlike the forgery, this one may be from the actual kidnapper. It paints a chilling picture, promising to kill Nancy if the payment does not arrive on time. A photograph of Nancy Guthrie is seen on a sign that people can leave messages on February 26, 2026. (Photo Credit: Joe Raedle/Getty Images) ‘We will be holding her for a maximum of seven days’ Nancy Guthrie has been missing since January 31, 2026. One week ahead of the six-month anniversary of her tragic kidnapping, the world is learning more details about the first ransom note that Savannah received. On the Crime Junkie podcast, Briana Whitney joined Ashley Flowers to discuss the details of the kidnapper’s chilling demands. “Hello, Savannah. We have your mother, Nancy,” Whitney read aloud. “She is safe but scared.” The note warned: “She will be held for ransom, and once payment is received, she will be released unharmed. We will be holding her for a maximum of seven days.” According to Whitney, the note proceeded to demand millions of dollars. People previously heard from a source that the note demanded $4 million in bitcoin by Thursday, February 5. If that demand were not met, the note detailed that the kidnapper would want $6 million by February 9. “Once payment is received to the Bitcoin address below, she will be released within 12 hours of deposit to a safe drop off location back in Tucson,” the kidnapper alleged. The ransom note warned: “If the payment is not received by the last deadline on Monday the 9th at 5 p.m., she will be killed.” ‘Her life is in your hands’ “Your mother is aware of this,” the ransom note informed Savannah, “and her life is in your hands.” The note insisted: “It is in the best interest of everyone to have this completed as soon as possible.” Whitney continued to read the chilling message, which warned: “You will not be able to contact me from here on out. There will be no negotiation.” Sternly, it continued: “Do not play games. Law enforcement will not be able to help you.” At the end of the note, it included little details about the interior and exterior of the home — things that would, presumably, wash away any doubts that Savannah might have had about whether this was the kidnapper or a sick copycat looking for a payday. After reading the note, Whitney noted that the FBI is — six months later, just about — still unsure if the note is authentic. Presumably, agents have been too busy helping Kash Patel plan luxury vacations and jet out to visit his girlfriend or party with hockey teams to make this determination. However, unless the kidnapper’s claims within the note were false, presumably Savannah understood the message to be genuine. That said … it is widely believed that Nancy, an octogenarian without her medication who had just been violently kidnapped, did not survive to even the first ransom deadline. Our hearts continue to go out to Savannah and to the entire family. This heartbreaking situation continues, offering them no real closure. 20. Reading Time: 2 minutes It looks like Sean “Diddy” Combs won’t be getting an early release for good behavior. According to a new report, the disgraced mogul is currently cooling his heels in solitary confinement after getting into a fight in prison. Combs is serving a four-year sentence on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Sean “Diddy” Combs attends the 2022 Billboard Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 15, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images) Sources familiar with the incident told NBC News that the confrontation when a fellow inmate started hurling insults at Combs. Prison staff intervened to break up the fight, and Combs was subsequently placed in administrative segregation, commonly referred to as solitary confinement, while officials investigated the incident. The report states that Combs did not suffer serious injuries. According to TMZ, Diddy “held his own” during the fight. The condition of the other inmate involved has not been publicly disclosed, and federal officials have not released additional details about what led to the altercation. The Federal Bureau of Prisons declined to comment on the specifics of the reported incident, citing privacy, safety, and security policies regarding incarcerated individuals. Combs is set for release in 2028, and it does not look as though this disciplinary infraction will affect that date. Though he was convicted of transportation to engage in prostitution, he beat several more serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, which could have landed him behind bars for life. The conviction followed a weeks-long federal trial in New York that featured testimony from multiple witnesses, including former romantic partners and former employees. Following the verdict, the court imposed a custodial sentence that prosecutors said reflected the convictions returned by the jury. Several other accusers have come forward since Diddy began his sentence, but thus far, no new criminal charges have been filed. Diddy’s current home, FCI Fort Dix, houses more than 2,000 inmates and is one of the largest federal correctional institutions in the United States. The facility has previously drawn criticism over concerns involving inmate safety and overcrowding, although prison officials have said they continue to implement measures designed to maintain security. Neither Combs’ legal team nor the Bureau of Prisons has publicly commented on the reported fight beyond the information included in NBC’s reporting. We will have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available. 21. Reading Time: 2 minutes Earlier this month, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry visited a very special spot in the UK. Not only did they make a pilgrimage to Harry’s family’s ancestral estate, but they brought their children. It has been almost 30 years since Princess Diana’s tragic death. Meghan shared cozy photos of both kids exploring the estate where their grandmother grew up. (Photo Credit: Asanka Ratnayake/Getty Images) It looks like they had a great time Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Europe. They took this family trip with both children: 7-year-old Prince Archie and 5-year-old Princess Lilibet. On Thursday, July 23, Meghan shared cozy photos. Among the array of Instagram snaps that she shared, we can see glimpses of Althorp. If you are not familiar, Althorp is the ancestral family estate of Princess Diana. Harry did not grow up there, but his mother did. One photo showed little Lilibet wearing a dress as she made her way through a field of grass. Another showed Archie walking barefoot on the property. Charles Spencer owns the 15,000-acre Northamptonshire estate. Harry and Meghan could not raise their children on this land — in the UK, they were attached to the royal family. Once they left their royal duties, they could not remain without facing harassment even worse than before. Even so, their children get to experience the joys of extraordinary hereditary wealth in the UK. Truly like something out of a fairy tale. The children will never know their paternal grandmother The late Princess Diana is actually buried on the property. Specifically she is buried on a secluded island. Oval Lake at Althorp is not accessible to the public. A limited access to estate grounds — not the beloved Princess of Wales’ burial site — is available to visitors during much of the summer. However, online records show that access was closed when Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet visited on July 10 and July 11. The Australia tour that transformed the lives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was overshadowed by excessive jealousy from the royal family. To know them is to love them. [image or embed] — KarenM (Sussex Squad) (@karensussex.bsky.social) November 19, 2024 at 7:32 AM Obviously, not everyone is enamored with the photos or with Meghan or Harry — or even their young children. A certain crowd has viewed Meghan as some sort of interloper who “stole” Harry a decade ago, and they’ve never forgiven her. Everything since then, from advocating for a better world to wanting to balance privacy with being a public figure to selling jam has only further condemned her in this crowd’s eyes. But for anyone viewing this normally, two parents took their kids to visit a sprawling estate where their famous grandmother grew up before her entanglement with Charles. It’s a glaring reminder of generational wealth in the UK and beyond. But it’s otherwise very sweet. 22. Reading Time: 3 minutes In recent years, the GLP-1 fad has been nearly as hard to avoid — and nearly as pernicious — as the hard push for AI slop. But Rosie O’Donnell doesn’t feel fatigued with it. The actress and comedian credits the controversial weight loss drug with having “saved” her life. In fact, she says that she wants to do ads for the product — and wishes that more people could afford it. In a July 2026 interview with People, Rosie O’Donnell spoke about her appearance, her career, and much more. (Image Credit: People/YouTube) ‘I really wish I could do commercials …’ Speaking to People in an interview published on Thursday, July 23, Rosie credited Mounjaro with having “saved” her life. “When my mom died, all of us children gained weight,” she recalled. Her mother passed away in 1973. Weight loss and weight gain, mild and in the extremes, are both common reactions to grief. In her case, it also had to do with being a child who was suddenly entrusted with helping the family shop. “Everyone got heavy,” Rosie described. “Everyone was in such grief and trauma.” “And so Mounjaro saved my life,” Rosie claimed. She shared that she has “lost a pound or two a month for three years.” Rosie believes that the controversial GLP-1 product is not only good for her, but could be for others. “I really wish I could do commercials for Mounjaro,” she expressed. Rosie added: “And they would drop the price instead of paying me.” Rosie O’Donnell sits and chats with People in July 2026. (Image Credit: People/YouTube) ‘I know the shame that we carry and the humiliation that is dealt to people who are overweight’ “Because when I see people struggling with obesity,” Rosie explained, “I want to say I know the shame that we carry and the humiliation that is dealt to people who are overweight.” Unfortunately, it sounds like her proposed solution is not to end stigma, but simply to eradicate weight. (As we know from multiple harrowing stories and also from common sense, not everyone can or should take GLP-1s.) Rosie explained the trauma of having worked as an actress and comedian prior to this weight loss. “When I would do late night, my biggest concern wasn’t my set, it was, did I look fat?” she recalled. “The first time I did a talk show, it was Pat Sajak,” Rosie shared. “And people were saying ‘You were so good.'” She continued: “And I’d go, ‘How did I look in that blazer?’ I wasn’t even heavy then.” Rosie said that she feels “much healthier and more powerful” in her “physicality” now that she has used this GLP-1. Obviously, she is aware that not everyone — in fact, probably most people — could not afford GLP-1 medications even if they wanted them. But Rosie didn’t delve into how medicalized starvation probably isn’t the best or safest route for most people, even if it happened to work for her. 23. Reading Time: 2 minutes Actors Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck have suffered a loss in their family. Their mother, Chris Anne Affleck, has passed away. Her death followed a diagnosis of cancer. Doctors had only given her months to live. Chris was 83. Ben Affleck with mom Chris Affleck in the 2000s. (Photo Credit: Sylvain Gaboury/FilmMagic) She died early last month According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris passed away on June 2. This followed a diagnosis in December. She had pancreatic cancer. Doctors at the time told her that she had about six months to live. Unfortunately, the prognosis was very accurate. Born as Christopher Anne Boldt in 1942 in New York, Chris would go on to graduate from Harvard. She spent 35 years as a teacher and remained a committed civil rights activist. She married Timothy Affleck, divorcing in the ’80s. Together, they welcomed Ben in 1972 and then Casey in 1975. Ben Affleck’s career has been successful for decades. He is also, pretty famously, a good person — even if he is the butt of some joke memes. Casey is arguably better known for settling two sexual harassment lawsuits out of court than for his acting career. Ben brought his mom to the Oscars almost 30 years ago For much of the public, their first introduction to Chris was when her son was nominated for an Oscar. In 1998, both Ben Affleck and Matt Damon received nominations for Good Will Hunting. The actors attended the Oscars together, which could mean nothing, and both brought their mothers. “We were sitting next to our moms and we won, and we kind of hugged our moms. I remember how everyone had made such a big thing out of it as if this was such a novelty,” Ben recalled to Vanity Fair in 2023. “There was nobody else that was going to go,” he explained. “That was it. Of course, our moms were gonna go. That was really innocent and not faked.” The pancreas is part of the endocrine system, and lies directly behind the stomach. When cancerous cells begin to multiply out of control and potentially spread to other parts of the body, this is pancreatic cancer. About 90% of all cancers of the pancreas are pancreatic adenocarcinoma, to the point where this is often synonymous with pancreatic cancer (even though this can take other forms, like neuroendocrine tumors). In general, pancreatic cancer tends to have a very poor prognosis, as was the case with Chris. The cancer tends to be diagnosed at a later stage. Our hearts go out to the Affleck family as they continue to mourn their dearly departed mother and grandmother. 24. Reading Time: 2 minutes As we previously reported, Eminem’s ex-wife, Kim Mathers, was hospitalized following an alleged suicide attempt earlier this month. Now, newly released police body camera footage has shed more light on the moments after first responders arrived at her residence. In footage obtained by TMZ, Kim is seen screaming at police officers and paramedics as they remove her from her home. Kimberly Mathers, Eminem’s ex-wife, appears before Judge Ed Servito in Macomb Count Circuit Court for violating her probation on drug charges February 12, 2004 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. (Photo by Bill Pugliano/Getty Images) Mathers can be heard yelling profanities as first responders worked to transport her to a local hospital. According to the police report, officers were dispatched after a relative called 911 requesting help. Authorities said Mathers was eventually taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital for treatment. During the response, police alleged that she became combative, leading to her arrest on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest after an officer reported being bitten. Officers also deployed a Taser during the incident, according to the report. The newly released video largely captures the tense moments after first responders had secured the scene. As officers escorted Mathers to an ambulance, she repeatedly shouted expletives at those around her while several officers and paramedics attempted to de-escalate the situation. The footage also includes an officer documenting an alleged bite injury following the encounter. Watch full video on TMZ Kim has faced numerous legal issues in recent months. In June, a warrant was issued for Mathers’ arrest after she failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing related to a DUI case. She had also been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence several weeks earlier. Kim was married to Eminem — whose real name is Marshall Mathers — twice. The pair first married in 1999 before divorcing in 2001. They reconciled and remarried briefly in 2006 before divorcing again later that year. They share daughter Hailie Jade, and their relationship has long been the subject of public attention and has inspired some of Eminem’s most infamous songs. 25. Reading Time: 3 minutes An article criticizing the on-court behavior of WNBA star Caitlin Clark sparked major backlash today. And the discourse surrounding the controversial USA Today piece has spread well beyond the world of sports. The article — written by sports columnist Nancy Armour — starts with a simple enough premise: Armour argues that Clark has engaged in strategic “flopping” and has argued with refs with the goal of receiving undeserved fouls. (Photo by Jason Mendez/Getty Images) The article was originally titled, “Caitlin Clark’s reaction to non-calls puts other players at risk,” but the headline now reads, “Caitlin Clark’s flopping isn’t just annoying — it’s becoming dangerous.” “The irony of the WNBA’s All-Star Game is that it’s happening this weekend in Chicago, the hometown of Emmett Till, who became an icon of the civil rights movement after his tragic murder,” Armour writes in the piece, adding: “The local art gallery is currently hosting an exhibit imagining his life if he hadn’t been lynched. “While it’s incumbent on the WNBA to do more to protect its players, there also should be an expectation on Clark to recognize the broader implications of her actions being weaponized.” The use of Till’s name sparked outrage, but the claim that Clark is being supported by white supremacist groups created an even bigger uproar: Clark has repeatedly berated refs after not getting calls replays show she doesn't deserve https://t.co/JmIFjZY7lY — USA TODAY Sports (@usatodaysports) July 22, 2026 “It seems there is a white nationalist faction to Clark’s fandom that is deeply, deeply problematic, made even more so because the WNBA is made up predominantly of Black women, many of them queer,” Armour writes. “When Clark claims fouls that don’t exist, when she goes on profanity-laced tirades at referees, those racists see her as a white woman in need of saving and take matters into their own hands.” That assertion may be entirely true, but Armour should support such a bold claim with substantive evidence and not a mere “it seems.” In the hours since it was published, the article has received significant criticism. “I honestly cannot believe this made it past the editor. And I’m a Democrat. This is literally nonsense,” author Amy Siskind wrote of the piece on X (formerly Twitter). “Even as a fan, I believe CC does complain too much and she can be overly dramatic. But that is not where Nancy Armour took this nonsense,” another commenter wrote. “Instead, she connected two debatable basketball plays, a disgusting racist message, and the murder of Emmett Till to argue that Clark is somehow putting other players in danger. That is an enormous and irresponsible leap.” That commenter concluded: “This article is disgusting and so is Nancy for writing it.” Even as a fan, I believe CC does complain too much and she can be overly dramatic. I intended to connect the issues the WNBA is currently facing with its All-Star Game being hosted in Till’s hometown of Chicago. “I obviously did not provide enough context for that. However, this point stands: There is a history in this country of perceived threats to white women being weaponized against African-Americans, and the danger that poses to Black players in the league. “Players have been abused online and have reported receiving death threats. That has to be taken more seriously. “I sincerely regret that my lack of appropriate context is overshadowing that important conversation and the action that needs to be taken by the WNBA to address it directly – for the benefit of ALL players.” The current version of the article begins with disclaimer explaining that the piece has been “updated to provide further context and clarity.” Caitlin Clark has not yet publicly responded to the controversy.
