The decision is a major setback for Berry, who had asked the court to restore a 50/50 physical custody arrangement with the French actor. Martinez’s attorney, Patrick Baghdaserians, said the judge sided with his client on that front, leaving the 60-year-old as Maceo’s primary custodial parent, at least for now. The temporary restraining order that had been in place against her was dissolved as part of the court’s decision. That order traces back to the explosive allegations at the center of this case. Earlier this month, Halle Berry was accused of choking her son in a filing in which Martinez sought a temporary restraining order against her. In the documents, Martinez alleged that on September 26, Berry verbally lashed out at Maceo, who was 12 at the time, telling him he looked “stupid” and was “such an idiot” for playing a VR game. “The situation escalated, and Petitioner jumped on our son and started physically fighting with him,” Martinez claimed in the filing. “She grabbed Maceo by the neck and started choking him,” he went on. Martinez further alleged that Berry was shouting, “Who is dominant now?! Who is dominant?!” during the alleged attack. According to the filing, Berry’s fiance, musician Van Hunt, was present when the alleged incident took place. Martinez claimed that Maceo called him afterward and asked to be picked up, and that the boy did not want to return to his mother’s home. He also alleged that the September incident was not the first time Berry had gotten physical with their son, describing it as the last straw rather than a one-off. The filing appeared to hint that alcohol may have played a role in the alleged abuse. With the new ruling, Maceo will primarily live with his father, while Berry’s time with him reportedly no longer includes overnights. The arrangement isn’t necessarily the final word. As part of the legal battle, Perry reportedly turned over private texts that he had with others over to Rodriguez’s legal team. Perry is adamant that these conversations remain confidential. One major issue, he argues in court, is that there are financial matters that come up in these conversations. Another note is that the associates with whom he spoke believed that their own conversations were private. So it is no longer merely about Perry’s privacy. 🚨On December 25, 2025, actor and model Mario Rodriguez filed a lawsuit against Tyler Perry, accusing the filmmaker of sexual assault and battery. Rodriguez, who had a minor role in the 2016 film Boo! A Madea Halloween, is seeking $77 million in damages from both Perry and Lionsgate. The lawsuit details several alleged incidents between 2014 and 2019: Rodriguez claims he was first approached by a trainer at an Equinox gym who said Perry wanted his number to discuss acting roles. Rodriguez alleges that shortly after being cast in 2016, Perry touched him inappropriately while watching a movie at Perry’s home. In 2018, Perry allegedly "tightly hugged" Rodriguez and "grabbed his penis". In 2019, Rodriguez claims Perry grabbed his hand and placed it on Perry’s own genitals. The complaint alleges Perry offered financial support and career advancement in exchange for sexual favors, reportedly telling Rodriguez, "If you would just give in to me… you would never have to worry about anything again". Jane Harnick, her daughter, told The New York Times that her mother’s death was medically assisted. Barrie had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. This was not her first fight with cancer, and cancer was not her only serious health battle. It’s clear that she decided that, at 95, she did not want to fight what doctors told her would be a losing battle. In 2014, Barrie received a diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2014. IPF is a degenerative disease with an unknown cause (thus why it is idiopathic), though there are known risk factors such as smoking and GERD. The scarring of lung tissue in someone with this disease normally results in declining lung function and an average of 4 years from diagnosis to death. Barrie clearly beat those odds. Twenty years earlier, in 1994, she was successfully treated for rectal cancer. She went on to write two books about surviving cancer, encouraging people to get early screenings and stating that detection was “more important than acting.” She’d been winning acting awards since over 60 years ago Even with her very astute priorities made clear, we should emphasize that her acting career was singular. In 1964, Barrie received the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for One Potato, Two Potato. Films about interracial relationships were distinctly uncommon at the time. After 1979’s Breaking Away — her most famous role — she received an Oscar nomination. Though she did not take home the Academy Award, the film did win an Oscar for best screenplay. She reprised her role on the television series that followed the film, which resulted in a 1981 Emmy nomination. On top of her extensive work in film and television and on stage, and on top of her books, she also led a personal life. In 1965, she married Jay Malcolm Harnick — also an actor but also a director and producer. Together, they had two children: Jane and Aaron Harnick. Though Jay passed away in 2007, both children are still alive. In the early ’70s, Barrie signed her name to the “We Have Had Abortions” campaign to push for human rights against archaic laws. The documents also do not establish whether any of the obligations overlapped. Still, those are some eye-popping numbers for a man who has only just entered the spotlight as Savannah’s future husband. According to the judgment, the court found that Galanis had engaged in criminal conduct before and during their marriage, and potentially after their separation. Reading Time: 3 minutes It looks like the “the judge is biased against Scientology” defense isn’t going to fly. In 2023, disgraced actor Danny Masterson was convicted on multiple rape charges. He is now desperately appealing his sentence, throwing everything at the wall until something sticks. The appeals court isn’t buying any of it. (Photo Credit: Anna Webber/Getty Images for Netflix) He’s serving 30 to life Masterson, once famous for his role on That 70s Show, is serving a 30-to-life prison sentence. That is not going to change, the three-judge appeals court has ruled. The 2023 court found him guilty of raping two women at his Hollywood Hills home back in 2003. The jury deadlocked over the charge of raping his former girlfriend in 2001. Masterson’s attorneys claimed that Judge Charlaine Olmedo had made statements indicating some sort of anti-Scientology bias during the trial. The appeals panel found that the judge demonstrated “no animus or departure from neutrality regarding Scientology.” The organization itself was central to the case. The prosecution demonstrated that victims, all former members of the Church of Scientology, had delayed reporting the incidents for fear of retaliation. Prosecutors brought in a former Scientologist to testify about the organization’s practices, including a rule against reporting such matters to police. To Masterson’s legal team, the court allowing this means that an anti-Scientology bias had tainted the entire trial. (One wonders at the defense strategy of arguing that the predatory organization to which the convicted rapist belongs, the one that he used to keep his victims silent while hunting for more, also created a bias against him and should therefore invalidate his conviction.) ‘Admission of Scientology evidence for those purposes did not contravene the First Amendment’ In the 89-page ruling, the appeals court explained that discussion of Scientology was relevant to the case, and not a First Amendment issue. “The jury in this case was not asked to determine the truth or falsity of Scientology doctrine or beliefs,” the court noted. As such, the panel ruled: “Admission of Scientology evidence for those purposes did not contravene the First Amendment.” The court also ruled on the statute of limitations, on evidentiary rulings, and even a wild claim that Masterson had inadequate legal representation in the first trial. None of these rulings were in Masterson’s favor. There are countless real examples where a defendant’s religion is brought up in court, off-handedly or at length, in order to prejudice a jury and skew the trial in the prosecution’s favor. This can happen with an innocent person or with someone who is just as guilty as Masterson. There are minority religions whose organizations are under surveillance in America simply for existing. Most notably but not exclusively, Islam. However, if the perpetrator and victims are all part of the same organization — one known for massive retaliation against criticism from within and without — then knowing about that organization’s tactics and how it might protect an evil man is very relevant to the case. It is sad and sickening to see, once again, people use real injustices — the marginalization of minority faiths and their adherents — in an effort to let a bad man weasel out of the prison cell where he belongs. The former Los Angeles Lakers star announced the page on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, according, and he’s already teasing what subscribers can expect. Odom told TMZ that he knows exactly what assumptions come with the platform’s name. But the man’s been retired since 2013, and he’s seen plenty of ups and downs during those years. Of course, most people outside of basketball know Odom from his years in the Kardashian orbit. He and Khloe Kardashian were married from 2009 through 2016, though they first separated in 2013 before the divorce was finalized years later. During their marriage, Odom struggled with addiction and was unfaithful, and he has spoken openly about both over the years. Khloe has been open about that era too. On an April 2025 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, she recalled tracking Odom down to a motel in downtown Los Angeles and finding him with another woman. “I knocked on the door. They answered it for some reason, and I just started going ballistic,” Khloe said at the time. Odom has also made headlines for the way he’s handled things since the split. It is clear that, nearly a decade later, Crystal is still understandably struggling to discuss certain things. “There were times that were really uncomfortable for me in the bedroom,” she recalled. “In the bedroom things would happen that ended up just not being OK.” “I do believe that I did whatever he wanted me to do,” Crystal described when asked if she was raped by her late husband. “And if that involved sex,” she continued, “then I just did what he wanted me to do.” There are people who willingly do things to please a partner. There is also reproductive coercion. As he goes on, it sounds like she is describing the latter. Crystal went on to describe what sounds like either forced incest or an attempt at it. But this was a bigger issue than hygiene. She specified that she is currently “six weeks pregnant with number seven.” In case we have to spell it out for anyone, seven is going to be a lot of children. Jessa and Ben are already parents to 10-year-old Spurgeon, 9-year-old Henry, 7-year-old Jane, 5-year-old Fern, 2-year-old George, and 1-year-old Owen. Those were not all of Jessa’s pregnancies. To her knowledge, she has suffered two miscarriages. The effects upon our society have been deleterious. Even before her marriage, Jessa spoke about wanting to have a large family. News wrote of the outcome, noting that the frights weren’t limited to the theme. During Dedication Night, every celebrity contestant was marked safe and nobody went home. Because of that, the scores the couples earned on Horror Movie Night were combined with their earlier marks to decide who would stay and who would go. In other words, the safe week only delayed the bad news, and it landed on two celebrities at once. Cameron and Olson are now the latest stars to exit Season 35, which has steadily thinned out its field since premiering this fall. With both stars gone, the competition has reached a new stage.
