While his teammates largely stood still during the performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” James appeared to practice a golf swing before mimicking a basketball shot. Apparently, the president wasn’t impressed with King James’ pregame routine. And considering the long history of tension between these two, it’s hardly surprising that James has once again landed on Trump’s radar. This isn’t the first time the president has criticized the basketball legend. Earlier this year, Trump weighed in on the longstanding debate over whether James or Michael Jordan deserves the title of the greatest basketball player of all time. Trump made his preference abundantly clear, citing his friendship with Jordan before taking another swipe at James. “Michael Jordan is a guy that’s a friend of mine, play golf with him. He’s a really good guy,” Trump said. “And I think LeBron is, maybe he’s a racist, but maybe he doesn’t like Trump, I don’t know. But I only like people that like me. So, I would say Michael Jordan all the way.” James has also clashed with Trump over politics and the role professional athletes should play in social issues. In 2018, after Fox News host Laura Ingraham criticized him for speaking about political matters, James famously rejected the suggestion that athletes should simply stick to sports. “We will definitely not shut up and dribble,” James declared at the time. The basketball star has continued to use his platform to advocate for social causes, including racial equality and voter participation. As for the latest controversy, James had not publicly responded to Trump’s criticism as of Thursday afternoon. The timing is particularly notable, as James is preparing to make his home debut with Philadelphia against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The reason? Perry’s parents and siblings knew about his precarious lifestyle, and they wondered if he would live long enough to walk down the aisle himself. “When we saw that wedding, we all knew that he had wanted that in life. He wanted a partner and he wanted kids,” his sister Mia Perry Bowick told People this week. “We all knew how serious his disorder was, so there was this sense of, ‘Who knows what’s going to happen?’” In his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry revealed that he had to be “driven back to the treatment center … in a pickup truck helmed by a sober technician” after the wedding episode wrapped. The book contained numerous revelations about Perry’s lifelong battle with substance abuse, which seemed to only worsen once he found fame. “When I’m carrying weight, it’s alcohol; when I’m skinny, it’s pills. Ron Duguay — the beloved former New York Rangers star and longtime boyfriend of Sarah Palin — has died following a battle with Stage 4 colon cancer. He was just 69 years old. He even appeared in a memorable Sasson jeans commercial alongside fellow Rangers players, helping turn himself into a pop-culture figure during the 1970s and 1980s. Duguay recorded 620 points, including 274 goals and 346 assists, across 864 NHL games with the Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Los Angeles Kings. After retiring from the NHL in 1989, he continued working in hockey, eventually coaching the Jacksonville Barracudas to a championship. See, Christina Applegate recently revealed that she doesn’t have MS. She was misdiagnosed, and is still looking for answers. Kelly isn’t mad that doctors got it wrong. She’s mad that Applegate … told everyone? (Image Credit: YouTube) ‘I cannot keep up, you guys’ On the Tuesday, October 20 episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the eponymous podcaster ranted about the actress’ update on multiple sclerosis (MS). “Christina Applegate is really the person I think most people, at least famous people, associate with this disease,” she suggested, “because she was one of the first to come out and say she had it.” Kelly continued: “It’s been so debilitating to her, and you know we’ve seen her look in a wheelchair and with a cane, and she the whole the whole podcast called ‘MeSsy,’ which is based on M and S.” Applegate has now disclosed that she was misdiagnosed, and is once again trying to find the cause of her debilitating symptoms. Instead of sympathy, Kelly expressed scorn and derision. “I cannot keep up, you guys,” Kelly quipped. “I’m sorry.” The apology part sounded insincere. “But like the woman who’s made like every public statement about health for the past several years all about her MS, she’s hosting an MS podcast, has now come out to tell us all she doesn’t actually have it,” she ummarized. Kelly complained: “This has all been a wild goose chase.” Yes … for Applegate, who has suffered a setback after years of treatments missed the mark. But Kelly’s gripe seems to be about, what, her own impression of Applegate’s ailment being wrong? “She has no idea what she actually has, and I just think this is like the problem with celebrities, wanting to lean into their health problems, and ‘now I will be the face of MS,'” Kelly cruelly characterized. “She’s crying now because I guess she no longer gets to be the face of this disease.” ‘She’s crying now because I guess she no longer gets to be the face of the disease’ Obviously, Kelly is being very unfair to Applegate. But why? It could be mere opportunism — profiting by taking the most malicious stance on a hot topic to profit from her unhinged audience. We’ll delve into that topic in a moment. But this actually fits into fairly mainstream conservative anti-science rhetoric. Like all science, medicine means having the best answer at the time with the information and equipment at your disposal. Applegate shared that her previous best answer was wrong, and that she’s looking for a better answer. That’s normal. In the world of conservatism, though, there’s no room for admitting to mistakes or adjusting your view when confronted with new information. You need to go all in on one answer, and never budge. Some have argued that Kelly’s most abhorrent stances, such as her victim-blaming and doxxing threats towards the Cornell University Jane Doe, are a callous attempt to cater to her audience of white, geriatric audience who want their sinister worldviews reinforced. That is likely true. But it probably isn’t the whole story. Kelly was offered a contract just shy of $70 million to host her own NBC talk show. It only lasted a year — because she seemingly could not resist making an episode about how she felt that blackface was fine. (Of course, she got to keep all of those millions, so maybe it was a brilliant business move to weasel out of the job and laugh it all of the way to the bank? Somehow, it seems more earnest than that.) The most successful fringe-right influencers are those whose malice and clear behavioral problems clearly come naturally and coincide with the most rewarding stances. Regular grifters who aren’t invested in the pointless cruelty just don’t come across as convincingly. Kelly is probably the real deal, unfortunately. And while the latest developments suggest her condition has improved significantly, serious questions remain about what happened inside Tennessee’s execution chamber. Pike is now awake and speaking in full sentences and walking with less assistance, according to a report from the New York Post. It’s a remarkable turn of events for someone who was supposed to have been put to death on September 30. Pike was administered two doses of pentobarbital during the attempted lethal injection. Instead of dying, however, she continued breathing and was eventually rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment. Her condition was initially critical, and she was placed on a ventilator before regaining consciousness several days later. Now, her ability to speak in complete sentences marks another significant step forward. Still, her attorneys have warned that her recovery could be lengthy, and the full extent of any lasting cognitive effects remains uncertain. Pike’s legal team has also raised concerns about the physical damage she suffered during the failed execution. Court filings described her arms as swollen, burned, and blistered following the procedure. Her attorneys have argued that the execution team failed to properly establish intravenous access, raising questions about whether the lethal drug was entering her bloodstream as intended. The circumstances have prompted an independent review ordered by Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee. The state has also halted its remaining scheduled executions for 2026, while Tennessee’s prison commissioner announced his resignation in the aftermath of the incident. Pike was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer, whom she and two other teenagers attacked in Knoxville. Pike was 18 at the time of the killing. She has age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is incurable. Dench first received the diagnosis in 2012. Her career outlook, she says, is grim. “I can’t be on stage. I can’t do a play anymore,” Dench explained. She continued: “I can’t do a film anymore.” It all stems from the same issue, which her AMD has caused. “I can’t read any more,” Dench added bluntly. In addition to trouble reading, she struggles to recognize people — and sometimes approaches the wrong person because their fuzzy facial features look familiar. ‘There’s nothing to say for it at all’ Dench did not paint a rosy picture of aging or being older in general. “There’s nothing to say for it at all,” she commented. She begins by taking a seat wearing an innocuous yet eye-catching outfit. A lack of pants is very normal around the house unless you’re some sort of never-nude, but it’s eye-catching. As she digs into a bowl of ice cream, an old-fashioned television shows a series of videos of, well, Sweeney herself. At the start, we see Sweeney serving Taylor Momsen as Cindy Lou Who in the live-action How The Grinch Stole Christmas realness. At least, that’s what the hair is doing. The outfit is not quite the same and would not be appropriate on a child actor. On Sweeney, it looks right at home. As the Syrn ad continues, Sweeney gets more dressed — as if in pajamas — and then less dressed, no longer as a nod to any children’s story characters. Her next ensemble is more of a “sexy Corpse Bride” ensemble straight out of a Tim Burton porn parody. This time, her outfit is all black lingerie — getting an eye-bulging reaction out of Sweeney. Next up is an array of red lingerie, followed by a feathery white one blended with the palest powder blue. These lingerie sets could all work for part of Halloween costumes. Given the rollout (and even “Comfy” only coming out days before the big day), we’d have to say that these aren’t ideal for costumes. Many of the top comments under Sweeney’s Instagram post are misogynist troll accounts predicting that the ad will “trigger” women. For over a year now, the actress has deliberately avoided weighing in on much of anything. This continues to allow people to write their own narratives about her. The results are pretty gross. It seems that some very loud men on the internet believe that Sweeney is their co-conspirator, that she poses in lingerie in order to enrage women rather than to sell clothing to them. This may be a deliberate misreading of the Novig modeling scandal, where they pretend to not realize that the controversy is about yet another gambling app being advertised. Reading Time: 2 minutes Nick Reiner had some unexpected company in the courtroom as he went in front of a judge in the case involving the deaths of his famous parents. The 33-year-old son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Reiner appeared visibly restless during his latest hearing in Los Angeles on Tuesday. But he had some surprising support, as at least two female supporters showed up to watch the proceedings. Their presence offered a striking contrast to the grim allegations hanging over the case. Reiner is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the December 2025 stabbing deaths of his parents at their Brentwood home. He has pleaded not guilty. Reiner reportedly appeared more anxious and alert than he had during previous court appearances, rocking back and forth in his chair as the hearing unfolded. He wore handcuffs on both wrists, although they were not connected to each other or attached to his chair. Reiner also sported a new look, having cut his hair and shaved most of his facial hair while keeping prominent sideburns. Page Six reported that he looked directly at Judge Sam Ohta and his public defender, Kimberly Greene, when responding to questions. The hearing continued discussions surrounding the grand jury transcripts and exhibits connected to Reiner’s indictment. Ohta again postponed the matter, setting January 13 as the next hearing date. The judge indicated that the defense deserved additional time to prepare, noting that Reiner had been indicted without his attorney’s knowledge. The question of whether the grand jury materials should be made public remains an important issue in the case. Reiner faces allegations involving multiple murders, “lying in wait,” and the use of a knife. Prosecutors have already ruled out seeking the death penalty if he is convicted, leaving life in prison without the possibility of parole as the maximum potential sentence. The case has also raised questions about Reiner’s mental health and history of drug addiction. In photos, we can see her making use of a wheelchair. As her disease progresses, she will need to use additional mobility aids. Jenny struggles to speak aloud, but not to type. So when commenters accused her and Sumit of spending GoFundMe money on a tropical vacation, she took them to task. “If you don’t know what ALS does to a person please research it, we came to the beach for part of my treatment,” Jenny began. “The ocean has negative [ions],” she noted, “and that’s good for an ALS PATIENT.” (We did a bit of a deep dive on this, and apparently there is a lot of research into the role of ions as well as sodium and potassium channels in ALS. Not everything is conclusive, as studies are ongoing.) “[S]o that’s why we’re here,” Jenny asserted. “So please keep your negative hateful comments to yourself.” Bluntly, she noted: “My life is going to end and yours will keep going on so if you don’t agree with our sea vacation keep it to yourself. Following her spinal cord injury in 2020, Kennedy became an advocate for people living with disabilities. She even testified at the Massachusetts State House during a hearing addressing discrimination in health care for disabled people. Her obituary remembered her as a woman with a formidable intellect and a dry wit, highlighting her devotion to her children and her work supporting educational reform. Kennedy also had a competitive streak. She developed a passion for long-distance running and completed the Boston Marathon in 2019, beating her late father’s marathon time by 20 minutes. She leaves behind two sons, Conor, 12, and Declan, 10, whom she shared with her former husband, Liam Kerr. The former couple also had a daughter, Josephine, Conor’s twin sister, who died just days after her birth. Kennedy is also survived by her mother, Victoria, her siblings Michael and Rory, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held privately. And given his role in deciding who gets the coveted gig, the rapper may have a slight advantage over the competition. According to a new report from Puck, multiple sources say the music mogul has selected himself to headline Super Bowl LXI in February 2027. The NFL and Roc Nation did not respond to Puck’s requests for comment, so the reported selection has not been officially confirmed. Still, Jay’s potential decision makes plenty of sense considering he has been helping determine who performs at the biggest football game of the year since 2019. His company, Roc Nation, signed a deal with the NFL to curate and produce the halftime show, with the partnership renewed for another five years in 2024. In other words, Hov has spent years choosing the stars who get the spotlight. Now, he could be ready to step into it himself. And the 56-year-old certainly has plenty of experience to draw from. Jay has been enjoying a successful run of live performances, including anniversary shows celebrating his landmark albums Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint. According to Puck, three sold-out performances at Yankee Stadium in July generated more than $42 million, while a sold-out Paris concert brought in another $12 million last month. He also reunited the Fugees during two sold-out London shows, delivering the kind of high-profile musical moment that could translate nicely to a Super Bowl audience. Of course, Jay-Z has not released a solo album since 2017’s 4:44. His last major chart hit came years ago, but his extensive catalog of recognizable songs could still make him a formidable halftime headliner. And then there’s his Rolodex. Jay is married to Beyonce, who headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in 2013 and returned as a guest performer in 2016. Her potential involvement would undoubtedly generate excitement, although no guest appearances have been confirmed. Jay could reportedly announce the halftime booking this weekend, when he performs two shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles — the same venue scheduled to host the February 14, 2027, Super Bowl. For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement. Miley then asked Dolly to flicker the lights if she was there. She says that the lights in the hall began to do just that. Miley also put on a very emotional performance of “Jolene,” one of Dolly’s greatest hits of all time. This was an evocative performance for her and for the crowd. The bad news is that a medical misdiagnosis is never a good thing, and unnecessary treatments can lead to tremendous pain. Christina returned to MeSsy this week — the podcast she co-hosts with actress Jamie Lynn Sigler — and she delivered a devastating revelation about her health. According to Applegate, doctors recently informed her that she does not have multiple sclerosis (MS), despite having lived with the diagnosis since 2021. “She came into my room and said, ‘Congratulations, you don’t have MS,’” Applegate recalled through tears. The news didn’t bring the relief that her doctor apparently expected. Instead, the actress was left confused and upset, particularly because her physical symptoms haven’t improved. “You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of the sudden I’m better,” Applegate explained. “I haven’t gotten better, Jamie! If anything, I’ve gotten worse.” The revelation means Applegate is now facing a new round of medical investigations as doctors attempt to determine what has been causing her symptoms for the past five years. And the emotional toll has been considerable. In a second episode released alongside her return, Applegate opened up about experiencing a deep depression while processing the news. She also revealed that her health struggles have affected her career and continue to interfere with her everyday life. “I lost everything. I lost my job,” she said, becoming emotional as she described the reality of living with debilitating symptoms despite no longer having the diagnosis she once believed explained them. Applegate added that she still needs a wheelchair to attend medical appointments because she cannot walk from her car to the doctor’s office. “Nothing magical happened when she said, ‘You don’t have MS,’” she said. The actress also admitted to feeling as though she had let people down, given the community she had built with others living with MS. She and Sigler had become prominent voices discussing the condition and the challenges that come with it. Now, Applegate is struggling to understand where she fits into that community while also trying to find answers about her own health. “I had a reason. I had a f—ing reason as to why my day sucked every day,” she explained. “And now I don’t have a reason and it’s very unnerving and it’s very confusing for me.” Neurologist Dr. Marwa Kaisey joined the podcast discussion to explain that MS misdiagnoses can occur because there is no single test that definitively establishes whether someone has the condition. Instead, doctors evaluate a collection of diagnostic criteria. Applegate said she remains in a state of shock over the news, describing the experience as deeply unsettling. The actress first announced her MS diagnosis in August 2021 and has been candid about her health challenges ever since. Earlier this year, she reportedly spent several months hospitalized before returning home in August.
