It seems that Prince William will be stepping in for his ailing father at a very significant event next week. As you’ve likely heard by now, Charles is battling cancer of an unspecified variety. There have been conflicting reports about how well his treatments are progressing, but Charles was able to return to royal duties last month. Prince William Steps In For King Charles at Key Event And so, William will take his father’s place on June 6, when veterans and world leaders gather in the Normandy region of northeast France next week. According to a report from People magazine, William will be the senior U.K. figure at a gathering of 25 world leaders at Saint Laurent sur Mer, on the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings. Alongside heads of state and D-Day veterans, William will honor the estimated 160,000 American, British, and Canadian troops who took part in the invasion. Jason and Kylie were enjoying a date night without their kids, when a woman asked them for a selfie, according to Philladelphia-based podcast “Word to the Wise.” It’s a common request from admirers, to be sure, but according to bystander accounts, the couple were either sitting in “traffic or in their car” when the woman tried to get their attention. Meaning it wasn’t really the most appropriate time. Still, these same bystanders told the podcast that Kylie “politely” declined, and that set the woman off in a big way! Let’s Go To The Tape! The podcast obtained footage of the heated exchange, where Kylie and the woman can be seen yelling at each other outside of the cars. At one point, a man attempts to restrain the fan, who starts hurling threats at Kylie. “I don’t care who you are, you will never be allowed in this town,” the woman threatened Kylie, who replied, “I can smell the alcohol on your breath. You’re embarrassing yourself.” Meanwhile, the former Philadelphia Eagles star let his wife handle things, staying out of the confrontation, a few feet back Onlookers were adamant that “the Kelce’s did nothing wrong and were so polite,” according to “Word to the Wise” podcast. There was doubt that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson would be returning for the Moana sequel. What can we say except, you’re welcome! The Rock is pretty beloved, even when he sometimes realizes too late that he’s a terrible judge of character. But he’s also pretty essential to Moana, as he plays a major character — the demigod, Maui. In the first trailer for Moana 2, we get to see The Rock return to his beloved Disney character – and meet a co-star he never encountered in the first movie! By the end of May, a more telling trailer was released for fans to enjoy. “This is a call from the ancestors,” Moana proclaims as she returns to the cavern where she first discovered her boat. She plays the drums to summon help, only to receive a playful interruption from her birdbrained friend, Hei Hei the rooster. She tells the audience she’s on a mission to reconnect her people, which includes her reluctant father and a collection of new faces, to the “entire ocean.” By the trailers end, she’s reunited with her most important ally: Maui, the demigod. He arrives and quickly finds “boat snacks” Hei Hei and Pua. “Why didn’t you bring the pig last time?” he asks! Moana Sequels Are Happening – Two, in Fact! The film will released on November 27 — one day before Thanksgiving. That will give most American families a long weekend to see the film. Now, if this wasn’t enough Moana for you, additionally, there is a live action adaptation on the horizon. Reports say that the June 2025 release date may be premature, but it’s coming one way or the other. Exciting stuff! As for who is involved in the animated sequel, the director is Dave Derrick Jr. The project features music from Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina. Beyond that … we know next to nothing about the creative team. Except that obviously the original cast returned. But that wasn’t always the case. Deadline reported last fall that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was merely in talks to reprise his Maui role in Moana 2. Obviously, talks went well, but there is still no word if The Rock will reprise the role AGAIN for the live action flick. Meanwhile, Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the original film and the sequel, is in talks of her own to return for the live action. So, everything is still a work in progress as well. Unfortunately, it is once again time to talk about Travis Kelce’s awful teammate, Harrison Butker. It’s one thing to (needlessly) defend someone’s right to say awful things. But Travis is taking things further than that. This is the first time that Travis Kelce has spoken about Harrison Butker’s Benedictine College speech since the man spewed hatred and misogyny from a podium earlier in May. Many people hoped that Taylor Swift’s boyfriend would call out Butker. But it seems that Kelce has chosen another path. Despite this, Travis Kelce has outlandishly referred to his teammate (Butker is a “kicker” on the team) as a “great person and a great teammate.” Kelce emphasized that he doesn’t agree with “just about any of” the abhorrent things that came spewing out of Butker’s mouth. That’s just not who I am.” One does then have to ask about the basis on which Kelce does judge someone. There are people who solely evaluate someone’s character by how they, personally, treat them. That is tragically shortsighted. Is Kelce someone who doesn’t care how a man treats others, so long as he’s polite to him? Someone smiling and speaking politely in person is not the same as being nice. It’s just politeness. This is a man who referred to women’s rights as “diabolical” while telling them to be stay-at-home moms. And he spewed hate about “the deadly sin sort of Pride that has an entire month dedicated to it” and “pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America.” None of that is kind or good. Commissioner Roger Goodell said something about the organization’s “diversity of opinions.” (Not to mix rotten apples with oranges, but was that the NFL’s stance when Colin Kaepernick got so much hell?) If Travis Kelce had simply reminded everyone that Harrison Butker has a legal right to say loathsome, bigoted things, he’d have been right. It would be unnecessary (Butker is not in any legal trouble), but he’d have commented on it. Instead, Kelce seems willing to believe that personal politeness can somehow override outspoken bigotry and vitriol. It cannot. There are impolite people who are good people. There are polite people who are utterly despicable. Clearly, Harrison Butker is the latter. Considering that the original film is about old enough to start a presidential campaign, we all knew that the sequel would be different. But Geena Davis and the ever-controversial Alec Baldwin were both memorable, central characters to the first film. Why is there no sign of them in the Beetlejuice sequel? Though many younger Millennial viewers may better remember the animated series (in which the titular character was more of a rascal best friend than an antagonist), the film left a mark upon popular culture. Many of its stars remain beloved acting icons to this day. In the original, Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin portray a pair of ghosts. The couple haunt and ultimately befriend the living family that moves into their home — particularly the daughter, Lydia. Winona Ryder of course portrays Lydia. As you can see from the trailer that Warner Bros. Pictures dropped on Thursday, May 23, the sequel film is clearly a blast from the past. Even though we have all seen Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Michael Keaton in recent projects, for many, this film was the first piece of media where people saw them. But Geena Davis is also alive and working on both television and film. And even if one were to ignore Alec Baldwin’s most infamous recent film, he, too, is alive and working. Yet there’s no sign of them in the trailer or in any other materials related to the sequel. The two die at the start of the film, becoming ghosts residing in their home. When the Deetz family moves in, they first attempt to frighten away the family. Later, they recruit the titular Beetlejuice — a trickster demon — in the hopes of evicting the living from their home. Ultimately, the two become surrogate parents to the living family’s daughter, Lydia. The famous sequence of her flying at the end is a little indulgence from her ghostly pals. Tim Burton helmed that film and this one. The movie clearly has enough money to add new (legendary) actors like Willem Dafoe and Danny DeVito. Not to mention Jenna Ortega, who will seemingly be the one summoning Beetlejuice this time around. We searched high and low for any glimmer of a report or a social media hint about Geena Davis or Alec Baldwin reprising their roles. And yet there’s not a whisper of either. There are, ultimately, two explanations for why we might not see Davis or Baldwin appear at all in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The first, and most irritating, would be the reality of actors aging 35 years when ghosts clearly should not. A creative team can address that — as Star Trek: Picard did with Q — but it’s an obstacle. Michael Keaton’s character looked like a busted clown in 1988 and will look the same in 2024, so it’s not a problem for him at all. But the second possibility is that it’s more personal. If, for example, Alec Baldwin’s recent drama (an understatement) made the studio wary of controversy. That said … just because these two aren’t in the main cast doesn’t have to mean that we won’t see them. It’s always possible that we could see Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin in cameo roles. It does not go well, and leads to Moore’s character becoming disfigured. By the end, her form is likened to an “abomination.” Yes, there are prosthetics. And how the beauty industry preys upon women and the fear of aging. But it’s clearly more than that. As for the full frontal nude scene, that’s important. On the surface, it’s important for the audience to understand that Moore’s character’s “fading actress” status isn’t the result of some actual flaw. It’s a societal issue, and she has internalized it. Also, it matters in a broader sense. Sex scenes in film are now extremely uncommon (what’s the statistic, 1-in-50 these days?). We are decades past the days of sensational erotic thrillers succeeding at the box office. While we all look forward to the cultural pendulum swinging away from its current Puritanical nightmare, it’s good to see reminders of the human body’s role in storytelling. To be clear, as most readers are likely well aware of by now, Christine Brown and Janelle Brown are no longer sister wives. The former walked away from her relationship with Kody Brown in November 2021, and then Janelle did the same just over a year later. Neither woman seems to have any regrets over these decisions. At that time, she managed to secure a commuted sentence for Alice Marie Johnson. “I think it would be cool because she has a huge platform for prison reform and I have been in prison,” Ms. Rose Blanchard told Extra of a “hypothetical” meeting with Kim in January of 2024. “So I think having those two elements, I think we could probably do some good for the world.” Earlier in May, Ms. Rose Blanchard wished everyone a “happy Mother’s Day.” We hope that she had a wonderful day, as she’s now as free as she will ever be of Dee Dee Blanchard. Could Kody Brown’s having a fifth sister wife soon be a reality? Sister Wives fans have been hearing the rumblings and rumors about this for years. Despite the decline of his first four marriages, the head of the most famous polygamist family keeps being pegged as marriage material. Kody Brown looks quite angry in this Sister Wives scene. (TLC) But a fifth wife? Because the first four are clearly so happy with him these days … why not add another?! Maybe to ensure the longtime TLC show remains on the air. Maybe to prove plural marriages can really work. Or maybe because he just feels like he must?! It feels like a horrible time to even be thinking about expanding the family, given the tragedy they endured. A death of one of their own should be taking it’s toll. No matter the reason, let’s look at the facts about Kody’s marriage prospects before things get out of hand. Kody Brown’s Four Wives: Who Is He Still With? If you’ve been watching the TLC’s reality TV series since it debuted in 2010, you know that Kody has been in four marriages as a polygamist. (TLC) Over the last 14 years, the Brown family dynamic has changed dramatically. For starters, as of now, he’s still only married to Robyn. He’s lost a wife once a year since 2021. Christine announced her split from Kody in November 2021; Janelle split from him in December 2022; and Meri left him in January 2023. So, with the show called Sister Wives, and only one “wife” left, it looks like someone new is going to need to be added to the family tree lest the show be canceled. And that is a real possibility. But more on that on a bit. Does Kody Brown Already Have a Fifth Wife? Over the vast array of Sunday nights through the years, viewers have watched one wife after another complain about Kody. Is a new one about to enter the family? The answer is no – for now. For the past six years, a number of reports have claimed Kody had found a fifth wife, yet nothing actually came from it. In 2019, after her name was reportedly added to the Sister Wives Wikipedia page, someone named Leah Marie was suspected to be wife #5. But when her name was quickly removed from the page, fans chalked it up to a prank. Kody Brown is looking quite dapper here, huh? (TLC) Then there were the rumors that Kody spiritually married a woman named Bonnie Dwyer after he and Christine split. It was reported Bonnie was a native of Utah (no surprise there) and, like so many other women who end up in this kind of situation, came from her own polygamous family. She has 13 siblings, nine of which are half-siblings; this is to say, they share the same father, but have a different mother from Dwyer. But again, that also turned out to be false. Then there was the rumor that he had proposed to a much younger woman – a 25-year-old – but was turned down. “He’s heartbroken,” an insider says of the 49-year-old. “He had his sights set on her as a sister wife replacement for his first wife Meri, but she turned him down.” Meri Brown sits down here and talks about all the ways in which her marriage fell apart. (TLC) Will Kody Ever Marry Again? So, no luck on finding wife number 5 – but Kody admittedly is not giving up. In an interview with in the summer of 2023, Kody revealed that he would be open to “marrying again”. “The idea of ever marrying again after the experience I’ve had, there’s no reason for me to do that,” he said. “I feel like I’ve hit the bottom of a deep swimming pool, but I’ve pushed off and am headed to the surface.” While he thinks he’s ready to take another wife, his exes feel quite differently. Janelle admitted in the Sister Wives: 1-on-1 special in December 2023 that doesn’t “foresee” Kody marrying a new wife. “I’ll bet you $1,000 right now,” Janelle said. “If he does, I will give you $1,000. Because I just don’t think it’ll ever happen.” Is ‘Sister Wives’ Coming Back in 2024? The truth is, a fifth wife for Kody Brown would’ve been just the kind of narrative to push Sister Wives into a brand new season in 2024. As it stands, an announcement for the show’s renewal has not been released. However, members of the cast, like Christine, have hinted that filming was well underway at the start of the new year. But this was all before tragedy struck the family. Janelle and Kody Brown’s son Garrison committed suicide via gunshot wound on March 5. His parents, siblings, and entire Sister Wives family were understandably devastated. So, there’s been no word if cameras have been following any of the cast since his death. Kody And Robyn: Are They Still Together? Given his track record, many fans started to worry (or hope, depending on who you ask) that Robyn would be the next to leave Kody.
