On Sunday, the polarizing figure record an eight-plus minute video in which she gave a shout-out to female parents everywhere on honor of this occasion… while even citing her own mother by name. This came as quite a shock to many observers, considering how Gypsy-Rose Blanchard spent over eight years in prison for conspiring to have her own mother killed. Blanchard was released in December. Blanchard testified back then about her mother’s supposed abuse, alleging that Dee Dee forced her to undergo unnecessary medical treatments… kept her isolated from the outside world… made her use a wheelchair … and told relatives that she suffered from various illnesses, including cancer. Now free from jail, Blanchard has made headlines for recently getting a nose job; splitting from her husband; and for an upcoming documentary about her journey. During a lengthy blog post at the time, she detailed how the two had worked together in the early 2000s. According to her allegations, Carter had sexually assaulted her. One day after Schuman spoke out, Kaya Jones took to Twitter to condemn the Backstreet Boys member. In November of 2017, Kaya Jones took to Twitter to condemn Nick Carter and support the women accusing him of sexual assault. While other members of the group have denied sharing her experience, she likened the group to a “prostitution ring” with music executives able to prey upon them. Some have speculated that Jones may have been singled out by one or more predators within the industry. Sometimes, powerful industry predators will mislead victims to believe that “everyone” operates in this way. This deceitful tactic makes victims feel that they cannot come forward. At the time, Schuman (of the group Dream) alleged that Carter had removed her pants without her consent, performed oral sex on her against her will, and then sexually assaulted her in a bedroom. Nick Carter has denied the allegations, as he has with multiple other women who have come forward. Supporters of the accusers have pointed out that the same is true of some of Harvey Weinstein’s accusers. And there is also the argument that sometimes people who are least likely to be believed become targets. At the time, she underwent a double mastectomy to halt the spread of her very aggressive form of cancer. That was not all. Now, Olivia Munn has opened up to Vogue in a detailed profile, one that came out on Sunday, May 12. The actress underwent a full hysterectomy in April. This was, she explained, “the best” decision to halt her body’s production of estrogen — and thus, to save her life. During her Vogue profile, Olivia Munn detailed her surgery and why it was the best way of preventing her cancer from returning. “I have now had an oophorectomy and hysterectomy,” Munn shared. (A nipple delay is a surgery to essentially allow the nipple to form new connections with breast tissue) Prior to her hysterectomy, Munn was taking Lupron to suppress her body’s estrogen production. But the side effects were miserable — miserable enough that major surgery was the preferable solution. Taking the hormone suppressor had essentially kept her bedridden. “I would wake up in the morning and almost immediately need to get back into bed,” she described. “If you asked Malcolm, ‘Where does daddy work?’ He’d run to his desk, and if you asked him, ‘Where does mommy work?’ He’d point to my bed,” Munn said of her son with John Mulaney. “It was so sweet. As the saying goes, the past is often prologue. And if this is really the case, those close to Britney Spears are reportedly extremely concerned about the singer. Back on May 1, Spears appeared to get injured in some sort of argument with her questionable boyfriend, Paul Richard Soliz. Paramedics were called to the scene, along with the police, but Spears was never taken to the hospital; nor were any charges filed. According to The Daily Mail, Britney was “clad in her underwear, clutching a pillow and [looking] distressed” at the scene of whatever took place. Spears also had abrasions on her knees… may have been topless … and looked disheveled as she held the pillow to her chest. Terrible news today out of the world of journalism and entertainment: Sam Rubin, a popular reporter on KTLA since way back 1991, passed away on Friday from a heart attack. He was 64 years old. Rubin remained with only KTLA for the duration of his career, which kicked off over three decades ago and which quickly established Rubin as a star in his industry due to his breadth film and television — along with his charisma. On camera, Rubin was known to be jocular and warm, often talking about his activities with his wife and four kids. He came across every A-lister you can imagine or cite, as an interview with Rubin was a regular part of any promotional tour. The popular HGTV renovation show Fixer to Fabulous appears to have been impacted by a divorce. If you’re a fan of the show, you may have noticed that Chase Looney is no longer a member of the cast. His abrupt, unexplained departure has sparked questions and rumors among viewers. Chase Looney Was a Member of The ‘Fixer to Fabulous’ Family From the Start Chase Looney appears on Fixer to Fabulous on HGTV. (HGTV) Though Dave and Jenny Marr are the names most commonly associated with Fixer to Fabulous, Chase was along for the ride from the very beginning. “He wasn’t really given an option NOT to be with us on the show, but he graciously came along for the ride and we couldn’t imagine not having him with us,” Jenny once wrote on Facebook, according to Closer (via Yahoo!). Sadly, shortly after filming the pilot episode, Chase was badly injured in a freak accident. Chase Looney’s Eye Injury: What Happened? In July of 2022, Chase was setting up a fireworks display when one of the projectiles went off and struck him in the eye. Great stuff and hope you come back to the team soon!” So it seems that Chase has returned to his previous career as a firefighter. “Any chance you’ll be in fixer to fabulous season 5? Miss seeing you bud, you should have your own show,” a fan commented ahead of the show’s most recent season premiere. “Sorry, no chance. But thank you so much for the kind words,” Looney replied. Dream alum Melissa Schuman has made her Nick Carter allegations public. Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter has been challenging the women who accuse him of rape in court. His attorneys have attempted to prove that, despite a California law allowing survivors to report sexual assault after the fact, that their cases don’t qualify to due to the statute of limitations. Carter has not had much luck convincing the court of that. Not in the case of Melissa Schuman, one of his accusers. His legal team argued that Schuman’s case belonged in Las Vegas. Notably, Carter had already filed suit against Schuman and two other women who accused him of sexual assault. Famous men suing their accusers for “defamation” can have a ripple effect. Not only is it a strategy to combat allegations, but it can silence others who might speak out — against anyone who might have the funds to sue. She accused him of having sexually assaulted her during the early 2000s, and specifically of using his status as a popular entertainer to gain access to and coerce alleged victims like her. After going public, Melissa Schuman wrote online on her personal blog (which does not appear to exist any longer, though People documented its contents) that the two had been working together at his house. Carter and Schuman appeared in a film together. Schuman alleged that after some kissing, Carter performed oral sex on her in a bathroom without her consent and over her objections. She told him, she wrote, that she was a virgin and wished to wait to have sex until marriage. According to Schuman’s description of events, he then led her to his bedroom and raped her. The result has been legal battles against the women who have come forward. Memorably, and prior to his tragic death in 2022, Nick’s younger brother Aaron Carter publicly sided with Nick’s accusers. Aaron had a long and troubled history, but people still paid attention when he spoke up. Now, on the heels of Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, a new four-part docuseries will cover Nick Carter and Aaron Carter, including the allegations against the former. ‘Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter’ airs on Monday, May 27, and Tuesday, May 28 Investigation Discovery and Max (formerly HBO Max, back when it was good) will run Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter on two nights. Notably, Melissa Schuman’s allegations are part of the docuseries. So are the late Aaron Carter’s social media posts, showing support to his brother’s accusers. This is certainly a situation full of uncomfortable topics and various legal and personal complexities. Meri Brown simply cannot win when it comes to her professional life. Previously, the long-time Sister Wives star worked as a salesperson for LuLaRoe, a fashion company that pretty much everyone believes to be a pyramid scheme. It really did seem like a pretty shady endeavor. Now, meanwhile, Meri appears to have left that business behind… Meri Brown opens up here to the TLC cameras. (TLC) … but many fans aren’t thrilled with what she has replaced it with. Just a few days ago, Meri announced that she had launched a company named after a phrase she often uses on social media: Worthy Up. “I’ve spent the better part of the past decade taking a good look at myself and figuring out who I am, what I want, and where I’m going. I had to Worthy Up,” Brown shared via the company’s Facebook page on Friday, April 26. “This community is a place where I will share my personal experiences of growth and hope to support you in your journey, too.” Meri Brown looks a little bit concerned in this scene from Sister Wives. Fast forward to May 6 and Meri talking more in depth in an Instagram video about this “passion project.” At one point, Brown mentioned that membership costs for Worthy Up cost anywhere from $150 to $600 per year, prompting quite a bit of consternation and annoyance from a number of users. In the clip above, Meri is sitting on a porch and looking down at her knees, prior to stating in a voiceover: “I’m done allowing other people to determine my worth. My voice will be heard.” The video then goes over to Meri in a confessional … explaining that she’s had times where she’s felt “supported,” but also times where she was in a “dark place.” However, she knew she was “not the only person in the world” who dealt with this, saying into the camera: “I really wanted to be able to tell the full truth about myself. And while doing that, helping other people to understand that just because they exist, they are worthy.” (Instagram) This sounds very admirable. And we appreciate the perspective Meri has often had on her life, its trials, its tribulations and all she’s gone through with Kody Brown. They might need you. Or things could very rapidly become worse. But Prince William knows that Kate Middleton has first-rate medical care. He also has a lot of responsibilities. British taxpayers contribute tens of millions to his family every year and afford them vast legal and political privileges. Giving back is part of that social contract. As you may have previously heard, Kris Jenner will reveal that on The Kardashians Season 5 that she was recently diagnosed with a tumor. This is obviously a very frightening development for the polarizing television personality. Aside from Jenner’s physical health, however, another major focus of new episodes of this Hulu reality series will be the health of a certain relationship between sisters. A judge ruled this week that music legend Brian Wilson should be placed under a conservatorship due to a “major neurocognitive disorder.” The legendary singer-songwriter will now enter a guardianship controlled by his manager LeeAnn Hard and publicist Jean Sievers. Amy Winehouse’s last known photos have been making the rounds on social media this week. And some fans are not happy about it. The controversial images — which have been reposted by Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts big and small — were taken during the music icon’s final performance. Amy was struggling courageously against the eating disorder and substance abuse issues that would soon claim her life. Unfortunately, she felt obligated to continue with her grueling performance schedule at a time when she should have been receiving help. At one point, she reacted to jeers from the crowd by crying and hugging herself. Needless to say, the photos and footage from Amy’s final performance are heartbreaking. They’ve resurfaced due to a renewed interest in Amy’s tremendous talent and tragically short life. That interest seems to have been sparked by the upcoming biopic, Back to Black. Perhaps such a project was inevitable. But fans feel that Amy deserved a better tribute than this film, which is being derided as derivative and exploitative.
