Two of League of Legends’ most iconic items may be making a comeback.

Riot Games appears to be preparing one of its biggest itemization shake-ups in years. Recent leaks suggest that Hextech Gunblade and Stormrazor, two fan-favorite items removed from League of Legends in past seasons, may officially return in 2026.

Hextech Gunblade and Stormrazor were once staples of the game’s meta but were removed due to long-standing balancing challenges.
Gunblade created hybrid power spikes that were difficult to tune, giving Assassin/Mage champions disproportionate burst and sustain. Stormrazor, meanwhile, introduced crit-based power curves that restricted item diversity and caused unhealthy all-in playstyles.

Their removals aligned with Riot’s broader effort to streamline item systems, reduce overlapping mechanics, and improve clarity in champion scaling. Riot made these decisions to modernize the ecosystem, but they also left a gap in hybrid and crit pathways that many players still discuss today.

Leaks Suggest They Are Returning in 2026

According to credible leaks from a well-known League of Legends leaker, Big Bad Bear, both Hextech Gunblade and Stormrazor are expected to make their comeback with the launch of the 2026 season. Early details show that Riot isn’t simply restoring the old versions but rebuilding them with modernized item paths and clearer strategic roles.

The leak suggests that Hextech Gunblade will return with a 3250 gold price tag, crafted from a B.F. Sword and a Needlessly Large Rod—a deliberate combination that positions it as a high-investment hybrid power spike for champions who scale with both AD and AP. Meanwhile, Stormrazor’s revised recipe has not yet been revealed, hinting that Riot may still be iterating on how to reintroduce its signature energized playstyle without recreating past balance issues.

Beyond these two iconic items, the leaker also shared that Riot is testing multiple new items aimed at ADCs, tanks, mages, and bruisers.
