Introduction

This guide helps you improve the performance and clarity of Left 4 Dead 2, whether you have an older PC or just want smoother gameplay.

1. Recommended Graphics Settings

In-game → Options → Video → Advanced Options
Set these:

Model/Texture Detail: Low
Shader Detail: Low
Effect Detail: Medium
Water Detail: Simple reflections
Antialiasing Mode: None
Filtering Mode: Bilinear
Vertical Sync: Disabled
Multicore Rendering: Enabled

 

Enabling Multicore Rendering helps a lot on CPUs with 4+ cores.

 

 

2. autoexec.cfg File

Create a file named autoexec.cfg in:
