Octane Buff Confirmed by Apex Legends Dev: What’s Changing and When

Recent comments from the developers say that Octane is “currently in the works” for a buff, which means that Respawn Entertainment, the studio that developed the game, is aiming to give the adrenaline-fueled junkie a big makeover. Some of the newer legends have better pick rates and performance than Octane, so this could be a pleasant change for players who like his fast, risky style of play.

Why a Buff Now?

Octane has been in Apex Legends since the early seasons. His niche of sacrificing some health for more speed and using his jump pad for crazy plays has always made him a popular character. What Kind of Buff Could We Expect?

There aren’t any official patch notes out yet for Octane’s future tweaks, but we can guess what they might be based on what developers have said in the past and what the community has said:

Stim trade-off reduction: Octane’s main ability is his Stim, which lets him trade health for speed. A buff could lower the health cost, add a temporary protection, or speed up recovery after use.

Jump Pad enhancements: His ultimate might get faster, have a greater distance, or have more uses, like a better launch trajectory.

Passive tweaks: Right now, Octane has the Swift Mend passive, which heals him when he isn’t taking damage. Improving this might make him more consistently aggressive.
