Administrators COSMIN Posted October 10, 2025 Administrators Posted October 10, 2025 Ash has always been a divisive character in Apex Legends. She’s both deadly and annoying, especially when she wins matches with little cost. Respawn Entertainment has given her what some people are calling a huge nerf to try to stop her from being so powerful in the most recent round of balancing tweaks. Let’s talk about what’s different, why it matters, and how this could impact the Apex meta in the future. Legends, a couple of quick changes are now live in @PlayApex: -Alter's downed Nexus Teleport now works as intended.-Reduced Ash's Dash speed by ~30% (influenced by numerous factors: in air/on ground/momentum/direction – these conditions remain unchanged)Dev note: Ash has been…— Respawn (@Respawn) October 9, 2025 What’s New: The Nerf Rundown According to Patch 26.1, Ash’s kit has been reworked with several notable nerfs. Below are the major adjustments: ComponentBeforeAfter / ChangePredator’s Pursuit (Dash cooldown)8 seconds12 seconds Boost amount for non-forward dashesFull boost regardless of directionReduced boost if not dashing in the movement direction Arc Snare (Tactical)8 seconds duration, strong pull, bonus shield damageDuration cut to 6 s, weaker pull, no bonus shield damage, and easier to break Old Lvl 2 Upgrades (Dual Breach & Marked for Death)Dual portals + mark on snare hitsRemovedNew Lvl 2 Upgrades—“Longer Reach” (+25 m Phase Breach range) & “Ultimate Cooldown” (–30 s reduction) In addition, earlier patches had also nerfed her ultimate travel times: in April 2025, her Phase Breach’s max distance travel time was increased and its minimum time was raised. Furthermore, a prior change moved her ultimate (Phase Breach) upgrade to Level 3, preventing combinations of double dashes and double ultimates in the same loadout. However, the latest 30% reduction in speed to her passive dash might finally be the key for Respawn to properly bring her down to earth. Since the previous nerfs were unable to stomp her high pic rate among players of all skill levels, Respawn is hoping this new speed reduction might be the key. Why This Nerf Was Inevitable Pick-rate dominance During Season 26, Ash’s pick rate shot up to an amazing ~20%, considerably outperforming her peers. When a legend is that powerful, it typically takes away from other legends and makes the game less fun. Mobility too forgiving Her dash was cheap and very forgiving, so players could move about in the middle of a fight with little risk. Along with her dual-portal enhancement, she had both offensive and defensive tools. A lot of players thought she didn’t get punished enough for making blunders. Meta stagnation risk The meta was at risk of becoming too similar because so many teams chose Ash only because of how strong she is. When one option becomes the “safe” pick, legendary variety goes down. The nerf is meant to make the meta more open again. Community Reactions As expected, the community is divided. Some Ash mains who have played her for a long time believe that her movement is less fluid now and that the dash “feels lame.” Some others say the modifications were long needed because she felt so bad in a lot of matches. People keep saying that this seems like an overcorrection. A lot of people hope that Respawn will pay close attention to what people say. This huge nerf to Ash is certainly meant to bring her back in line. She will still be a strong option, but a lot of the things that made her feel unfair, such as low-cost mobility and multiple ultimates, have been taken away or made less powerful. It’s not clear yet if this nerf will entirely work or merely make Ash less desirable. One thing is for sure: Apex matches will feel different, and that’s probably what Respawn wanted.
