What We Know So Far About LoL Champion Mastery Changes

After many years, there will be changes coming to the champion mastery system in League of Legends. Here’s everything we know so far.

There are many kinds of progressions in League of Legends. Even though the main progression that players gravitate to is their solo queue rank, there are other sorts of progression. One of them is their champion mastery.

Since their introduction, champion mastery has been one of the few ways that players can show their specific champion’s proficiency. With the champion mastery system, players can earn an emote corresponding to their champion proficiency. Moreover, there is also a point attached to it, so the higher the points, the better they are at that said champion.

However, the current mastery system is very limited. Players can only peak at mastery 7, which is not hard to get. And for those who have already gotten mastery 7, it is not worth it for them to chase even more masteries on other champions.

As the mastery system is getting stale, Riot Games has announced some massive changes to this system. So here’s all of them we know so far.

League of Legends: Champion Mastery Changes

The first change we are getting is that the leveling system is getting uncapped. So players will no longer be stuck in Mastery 7.

Similar to the current system, we are still getting unique emotes from mastery 1 to 10. After Mastery 10, the emote will remain the same, but there will be a number attached to it. The more points you earn, the higher the number will be.

And yes, your current champion mastery will be carried to the new system. This means that, depending on your point, you will already be given an appropriate level. So you won’t have to grind again.

Release Date

Riot hasn’t officially revealed the release date for the new mastery system yet. But they did mention that they would provide an update in the first half of 2024. So we need to be patient about that.
